Wayne Blackshear cleared to play
As Mike tweeted earlier, "We're here. We cleared Shear. Get used to it."
More from the Courier-Journal:
University of Louisville men's basketball coach Rick Pitino said Friday that freshman guard Wayne Blackshear will be declared eligible by the NCAA.
His status -- which is in the final stages of being cleared by the NCAA -- was in question the past week as the school had to resubmit some of his academic paperwork to the NCAA. Blackshear was held out of practice and the Cardinals' first scrimmage last week as a precaution.
Pitino said that Blackshear, who had been out with a shoulder injury, was out of shape and would not play in Saturday's Red-White scrimmage in the KFC Yum! Center. The 6-foot-5 guard will make his debut Wednesday when the Cards play their first exhibition game against Pikeville.
In other breaking news, my pants have been cleared to play at the University of Off.

I am unbelievably happy right now.
Louisville basketball is what I look forward to every year, and Wayne will make this year even more special. It feels great to breathe this huge sigh of relief. Go Cards!

No sigh of relief from me until it's official.
I love Pitino, but what he says will happen is not always what winds up happening.

I could not agree with you more.
I just can’t take anything Rick says at face value anymore. But it shouldn’t take very long to find out one way or another.
No disrespect intended
I don’t doubt that he’s totally sincere. I just think he is sometimes overly optimistic.

Ok this is awesome news...
Also, watching the game from out of state tonight and ESPN just showed HCCS talking with Bill Billicheck on the sidelines, which was awesome because I hate the Pats but you can’t argue with what they have done, anyway – crazy.
Hey, if this kind of things work for Cal and that wretched place to get recruits…. Why not?
I realize someone will probably see this and explain his son plays for rutgers or something…

Maybe he's in town to scout Will

Belichick's son
long snaps. Travel to Louisville from Jersey to watch your son get in the game for five special teams’ plays?
Yeah, you’re definitely rich.

The most frustrating part is
Here is a kid waiting to get cleared and getting cleared, but during the process he is not allowed to practice or be involved with UofL athlethics. Now he is 2 months behind.
Not to single out/care about UK, but last year Kanter was waiting for the NCAA to clear him as he was a professional athlete, but he was able to pracitce while waiting for the status.
NCAA is stupid, their rules/regs do not make any sense.
