Could Pat Forde be cooking up some Yahoo Magic for Big Blue?

It was recently announced that Pat Forde would be taking his talents from ESPN to Yahoo Sports. I heard an interview that Eric Crawford gave to Bob Valvano on Friday, and he talked a lot about how ESPN had really "restricted" what he was able to do while working for the 4 letter.

There's a reason why the most powerful sports network in the world, with more access to athletes than any other entity, continues to not break the big salacious scandals in college sports. While the entity with less access continues to do just that. Why? Because ESPN broadcasts college games and Yahoo doesn't. Because ESPN doesn't want "Flag Ship" programs like Southern California and Miami to go into the crapper, it's just bad for business. Also, they don't want to ruin the all-access pass they have to every campus in America whenever they want to be there.

It just makes me wonder, especially after hearing Eric Crawford's comments,... did Pat have anything simmering on the back burner there at ESPN and just couldn't get anyone to sign off on it? Was Pat Forde finally tired of playing the game and cashing checks? Did he finally want to do real, hard hitting journalism? I think so; and I think he'd like nothing more than to kick the door down on the guy who everyone, other than UK fans, thinks is cheating his ass off.
