Our recruiting class is coming to a close but here are some updates on top players on our list.
Our Number 1 priority right now seems to 6'3 245lb DE B.J Dubose. He has not committed and still has visits to Syracuse and Miami scheduled. While LSU and Texas Tech are still in the mix the front runners seem to be Louisville and Miami. I think currently Miami has a slight advantage over Louisville, but I would not be surprised at all if he followed suit and came to be a CARD.
Another priority for Louisville is TE Jon Davis. He is still a UK commit but is visiting Louisville on Monday. He was supposed to visit today but the weather kept him away. This is a very important recruit for us because not only is he could enough to get playing time his freshman year, but he this would be a chance to take away one of UK highest commits and he is a local boy and we need to put a fence around our guys. Also, UK just got another solid TE commitment, this could be a very good sign for us.
Spencer Region among the top of our wish list as well. The 6'6 345lb OG could be the best offensive line recruit we have ever signed if we can persuade him to come. He has the body and skill to play immediately and our offensive line depth chart next year is limited, so he will compete to start right away if we can get him on campus. Although Auburn and LSU are still the teams to beat for his signature the CARDS are not to far behind.
It has been made clear that offensive lineman are a priority in this recruiting class, and that holds true with the recruiting of 6'4 245lb OG Kaleb Johnson. He is a big strong guard that because of our lack of depth could come in and compete immediately. He has a visit scheduled to Miami this weekend and after that visit he should be ready to make his college decision. Expect a commitment from him very soon.
Gerod Holliman and Andrew Johnson have been the most dramatic recruits up to date. Holliman is a 4 star safety from Miami and would make a impact as a freshman if he signs with us and Johnson is a 3 star CB who has very good instincts and will be a big time player down the road for us if he comes here. It is very apparent that they are a package deal and they dont care who knows it. They committed to Ole Miss and then it was rumored that they did not like Ole Miss anymore and they de committed and then Holliman made his commitment to Louisville during the Army All American game. Now after both of them committing to us they are going to visit Old Miss yet again hoping that the third time is the charm. They both remain committed to Louisville but I would not be shocked at all if they end up with Old Miss when its all said and done. I wont believe anything they say until it is on paper on February 2nd.
