No Big Changes In Depth Chart For EKU Game
The official "Game Notes" Depth Chart is out. See Page 2 here.
It looks like BJ Butler is officially the back-up DE, although he was playing a lot of minutes against UK.
And Free Safety is now "Mike Evans OR Shenard Holton", and since Holton played most of the second half against UK, I would assume coaches saw something they liked (or didn't like about Evans).
Still no official word on Josh Bellamy. Although against EKU, hopefully we won't need him.
Look for an in-depth analysis of Eastern Kentucky later in the week. Or a brief overview. Or just a picture or two. We'll see.

Does anyone know
why Terence Simien was taken out in the second half against UK? I thought he was playing well.
See: Derrick Locke's 2nd Touchdown
The one were he leisurely trotted past Simien, then walked into the end zone unmolested.
I was finally able to view the entire game on ESPN3 last night (suffered terrible hotel wi-fi while traveling over the weekend) and directly after this Locke TD, the network commentator talked about our players reverting back to “what they used to do,” implying the Kragthorpe Fail Camp disease that still plagues our program.
Blame the past, credit the current staff for making this a teaching point with Simien and hope he turns this into a positive lesson learned.

Showing my ignorance
but can we not throw a lot to backs coming out of the backfield in this spread offense? I honestly don’t know. I mean throwing downfield, not screens and such. Is it that the system isn’t built for that, or maybe our backs are lousy pass catchers? I’m just thinking that with the depletion of our WR ranks, TE’s and RB’s become other options in the passing game.
Thanks for the explanation
on the pulling of Terence Simien. I wasn’t able to pick up on that from my seat on Saturday, and I haven’t been able to see a replay of the game yet. I’ll be watching it tonight, so I’ll look for the blown coverage. In any event, I’m sure it was some valuable game experience for Hakeem Smith.
On another note, I see that Josh Byrom has taken over the starting job from Conrad Thomas at right guard.
Watch for Simien's overpursuit on Locke's 2nd TD (middle of 2nd Qtr I believe)
If I’m remembering it correctly, the commentators break it down pretty well and blame old habits. IMO, we can only blame Kragthorpe for so long, especially with correcting and instructing poor techniques.
