Tyler Harris picks up scholarship offer from Pitino
St. Benedict's Prep (NY) forward Tyler Harris has picked up a scholarship offer from Louisville, according to Adam Zagoria.
The versatile 6-8 (LEFT-HANDED!) Harris is also considering Iowa, N.C. State, St. John's and Providence. He'll visit Iowa this weekend, N.C State on Oct. 1 and Providence two weeks after that.
According to Zagoria, his visit date to Louisville is not set in stone.
He will also visit Louisville and St. John’s, probably on Oct 22 and Nov. 5, but those dates could be flipped.
"Those dates may be flipped," Torrel said. "St. John’s is right here. I can visit St. John’s anytime."
Harris, a senior from Long Island who plays at St. Benedict’s Prep, has become a Louisville target, along with Westchester (N.C.) Country Day forward Quincy Miller and Seattle Garfield guard Tony Wroten, with whom Pitino had an in-home earlier this week.
"It’s Quincy Miller, Tyler and they’re looking at Tony Wroten," Torrel said.
Louisville is also pursuing 6-7 small forward Rodney Hood of Meridian, Miss., who will take an official.
Harris is currently No. 75 in the ESPNU Top 100 for the class of 2011.

If he picks Louisville his first order of business should be reaching out to Jared Swopshire for a 2011 Halloween costume collaboration, because those two are going to be confused on campus many, many times.
After the Bryce Cotton fiasco, the thought of losing another recruit (oh, we lost him) to Keno Davis makes me physically ill. Let's go ahead and back up, Providence.

Methinks 2 south paws would a lot of fun to watch
That said, this ‘highlight’ reel was unimpressive.
I agree
I still prefer to have his brother. Hopefully the UT fiasco will provide a transfer situation for us?

Actually I was thinking Quincy when I posted that. And speaking of lefties..
Coach looks to be continuing the south paw trend for the following year:

tyler needs some weights work.
It’s kind of a weak class they say. He has tools to work with; surprised Louisville is getting in this late in the game. What’s up with that? I thought Quincy Miller and Chane Behanan were the forwards in this class!

IIRC, we once had a freshman class that included forwards
Scooter McCray, Wiley Brown, and Derek Smith. I think that bunch did OK.
Nice, some basketball news
It’s great to hear about all the recruiting Coach P has been doing for 2011. Just wish he woulda hit the trail this hard for the 2010 class as well. First year in the new arena is looking to be pretty disappointing.
I can imagine next year being pretty exciting for both football and basketball. Coach Strong getting more of his players in here and Coach P’s (hopefully) stellar recruiting class. Will be good times in the Ville.

I don't know
You want to use the one scholarship offer Pitino gave us on him?

So premature
This is exactly why we didn’t end up getting Cotton.

Heard this kid is gonna reclassify to 2012
Regardless, if he was/is in 2011, I think he’s a guy we are keeping tabs on in case we whiff on Miller, Bello, Hood, and Wroten (hopefully we land at least two of those four).
