2011 Cardinals
Let me start with the visit on September 4th. We have Quincy Miller, Deuce Bello, Chane Behanan, Josiah Turner, and Zach Price coming to the game. I feel like all those top players being at the game will only make the game louder and more passionate and our strong fan base will make that even STRONGer. We will get some commitments. Wayne Blackshear was scheduled to visit, but for some reason he is rumored to have different plans. Don't worry though, he is still a committed CARD.
Word is that Quincy, Deuce, and Chane are all planning on committing to a school sooner than expected. Most insiders are thinking that Quincy and Deuce are a lock. I fully believe that we will have both of them and Chane, with help of UK filling their roster for 2011, freshmen like Behanan do not want to be back ups. That shit was expensive for UK, signing all those players. However, when Kyle Wiltjer committed to UK, Chane turned his cheek on UK. Also, on a positive note, against Huggie Bear, he canceled his visit to WVU to come and have an official visit with us. That is in addition to the unofficial visit that he made earlier in the week, which he thoroughly enjoyed. How could you not? That arena is amazing. Quincy and Deuce, I feel, were going to come to us either way, with the hiring of Tim Fuller. Once he worked his magic, that is. The magic has already been showing that it has an effect. We just have to wait and see if it works.
UofL has cooled on Jakaar Sampson and are no longer recruiting him. He is a 5 star, but I feel that there must be a good reason for them to not want to recruit him anymore.
We are still trying to recruit Tony Wroten, friend of Peyton Siva, and Josiah Turner, 5 star Point guard. Turner will be here September 4th. Its not definite whether Wroten will be here or not. It is rumored that he is a hot head and has a huge ego. I have not seen that as of yet, not sure where the rumor came from. Either way, T-Will was the same way, according to Pitino. Look how that turned out.
All in all, I am extremely excited about our 2011 class. Shit, I am excited about our 2010 class. I know that we are definitely going to be back to what we were in 2009 very shortly, if not this year, we will be next year. Don't count this 2010 class out now though. A lot of people are. We will be a lot more talented than we were last year. We have a couple leaders with good heads on their shoulders. They will lead us to victory. Think positive kids. Oh.....and don't be too hard on me for spelling if I messed up a lot.....I've been drinking a little bit. Today is my Friday and the woman and child are asleep.
Thanks for reading if you stuck through it!

Basketball?
We’re talking about basketball?
Talk to me again in November. I’m in full football mode right now.
Not football.
Not the game of football. Not the game, not the game that we’re playing. But basketball. Not the game. Not the game, not the game. But basketball.
You will be surprised. More minutes to players that worked harder in the off season than they ever have. This team will be more consistent and will have more positive attitudes without them, in my opinion, besides Smith. Smith was always seen as a positive thinking player. Sosa, Delk, and Samuels would lose there shit every other game.

smith
made a HUGE dropoff from years past, and never really regained that swagger from his first years as a Card. Last year was painful to watch at times.
Sosa-as we all know was a constant headcase. Siva will soon make Sosa a distant memory for Card fans.
Delk-? What did Delk really do other than a few clutch baseline threes? Average player at best-never really lived up to the expectations IMO.
Samuels-I think Sam Sam wouldnt have ever flourished under CRP. Look at what he has been doing in the offseason for the pros. I also think Mardo suffered from a slight to moderate case of Edgaritis.
Off the bat Im not sure if the ’10-11 cards will be better-but definitely have the pieces to finish strong.
Delk's 3s single-handedly won us a couple games
without them, we’re in the NIT.
That said, I don’t think his overall productivity will be hard to replace
The problem with all those players is that, even as upperclassmen, they were woefully inconsistent.
Every one of them could come out and have 25 points against Syracuse or West Virginia and turn around and have 2 against WKU and neither would be surprising.
The players that we have returning, by and large, have been fairly consistent throughout their careers, for better or worse. Siva always brought excitement, athleticism, and turnovers, no matter the opponent. TJ always had athleticism, rebounding, and shot-blocking. Swop could always rebound and get some mop-up points, if not spectacularly. They had their good games and bad games, like anyone else, but when they happened they were surprising.
Whether they’re consistently good or consistently mediocre is yet to be seen, and totally depends on their offseason progression.
You bet
Trimmed away the deadwood. I’ll miss Delk, but definitely not the other three. None lived up to their respective hype.

All ill miss from that is the experience, but since they didn’t lead us much last year, i’m probably overrating that a bit. I’ll miss Samuels potential, but i don’t think he was ever going to be what we needed him to be under Rick so it’s probably best to hope the more athletic Jennings can become a productive player.

I've always been a smith/sosa supporter
But, Siva is an upgrade at PG, Swop is an upgrade a SF if that’s where he plays. And, Smith was a great team player, but I don’t see much of a drop off between him and knowles or whatever combination of players takes his minutes at SG.
The loss of Samuels hurts, though. No doubt about it. As many people on this blog have said many times, the success of next year’s team depends on the development of Siva, Swop, and Buckles, and to a lesser extent- Jennings.

According to some insiders
Dieng is proving to be an excellent player. He could come in and immediately do some damage. He has a freaking wing span of 7’5. He is a blocking machine. He was the MVP of the Derby Classic, I believe. He is going to be a monster player that I see sticking around for a while. I believe even Pitino said that he was extremely surprised and impressed by him. I’m really looking forward to seeing if he will be in the 5 or the 4 spot.

dieng looked good but there was a reason
sosa, smith, and samuels started.. they were better then silva, knowels, jennings.. they had more pt to make more mistakes so they looked like they screwed up more then the bench players…granted smith’s stats out put can be replaced but i think the other guys will struggle… this team would have benefited greatly with salie and coleman,, and even if these guys do produce really well, your bench is very suspect … pitino is a subing machine, this year i think he will sub a whole lot less
"UK ....enough said"
BUT if by some chance
the returning players develop greatly then nothing is out of yhe question
my prediction on starting 5
PG-SIVA
SG-KNOWELS
SF-SWOP
PF-BUCKELS
C-JENNINGS
now if deing starts then buckels gets the bench and jennings goes 4 spot

do you think
Kantre will be eligible by the UL game?
hope so he is a beast

If you're going to post here, at least learn the players' names
Knowles, not Knowels; Buckles, not Buckels. Dieng, not Deing. But at least you got Siva right this time.
In any event, Jennings will start at center. Dieng is not likely to start as a freshman, not until late in the season at least.
lol sorry man about the spelling
dont usually use those names very often and i got the dieng spelling from post above mine… shit i thought it was deng…lol

I would imagine that Pitino will sub more as implied by him stating he wants to get back to a fast paced pressing game.

Sosa and Smith were seniors
whereas Siva (not Silva) was a freshman. And we will have plenty of fresh legs, which Pitino will use extensively.
But keep telling yourself that.
just have to see siva play more to gauge
his ability over a whole game, not coming in vs tired defenses… the kid is good but he didnt really “break out” yet or go full blown all season, as i said earlier if the starters for this year have develop into their potential then yes they can be better than 2009-10 cards but thats alot of if’s

Siva's role last year was to get the freshman-green out and learn as a backup
Barring injuries and other unforeseen weirdness that loves to plague Louisville basketball, he’ll have a breakout season this year.

"they had more pt to make more mistakes so they looked like they screwed up more "
I was putting last year’s stats in a spreadsheet until dance time, and I’m here to tell you that Goode and TJ both scored more per minute and blocked more per minute than Samuels. Sosa and Smith? Not much better compared with the bench.
I don’t post here often, but if you look you will find posts from me the day I watched TJ at his first red&white scrimmage saying he would one day lead our team somewhere good.
This is TJ’s year.
wait...
dieng looked good but there was a reason
sosa, smith, and samuels started..
umm Deing wasnt on the team last season…I thought?
yikes...Dieng
