Howes, brother had criminal records, Covington did not
Solid reporting from WHAS. This has the potential to get very, very ugly.
The man, who was shot, Daniel Covington, had no prior criminal history.
...
Isaiah Howes was arrested back in 2004 at the age of 20 for having a hunting knife and a bottle of gin in his car.
He was charged in 2009 with alcohol intoxication in a public place when police found him manifestly under the influence of alcohol as he walked away from a car crashed into a tree.
Then there was the early morning of January 18 2010, when Vessels and Howes were arrested at the same time.
Vessels was driving after admitting to drinking multiple beers and whiskey drinks.
His blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit.
Howes allegedly had a gun inside the vehicle at the time of the arrest.
When officers tried to take him to jail he allegedly said "oh yeah, I'd like to see what you're going to do."
Police say he told them they couldn't do anything to him since his father is an attorney.
And there was another arrest of Joseph Vessels involving guns and booze.
In 2009, he allegedly vomited in a cab while coming home from Fourth Street Live.
When the cab owner asked him for money to clean it up, Vessels allegedly came out of the house with a gun and pointed it at the cab driver.
Yikes.

Ouch
Not good for Howes in the court of public opinion, but I don’t think it will affect him legally. If the prosecutor were to press charges (which I think is unlikely), he likely couldn’t use this evidence at trial unless Howes were to testify.
Very tough to read
Something very interesting I have noticed is the lack of coverage given to this story by the C-J. The Howes name can barely be found on their site.
While they get ridiculed for an anti-UofL bias, they are clearly choosing to not offer abundant coverage to this tragedy in the Cardinal family, especially as it relates to Howe’s involvement.
Yeah Howes, because we all know being an attorney (or son of one)
equals a get out of jail free card, right?
At least that’s what they promised me before I sent in that hefty tuition deposit…
What a menacing idiot.
How did we never hear about any of this stuff while he was still in school?
Seems like something would have gotten out at some point….
