The Latest Bryce Cotton news

The story that is dominating the nation, where is Bryce Cotton going?
Just got off the phone with Mr. Cotton, and he said he has been keeping up with this blog day in and day out to see what the Louisville nation is saying about him.
We both agreed that with all this buzz with Louisville fans Rick Pitino has got to catch wind of him, but if not there is nothing wrong with being a walk on. I know tuition at Louisville is pretty cheap(a buddy of mine told me)
But anyways back to my topic.
I was just on the phone with the great Cotton, and he was just in a showcase in Phoenix. He told me that two teams he has been in contact with(Illinois, and Oregon) are said to need a PG and were there at the Showcase. He also reported that St.Johns wants his transcripts(UH OHHH!!) This kid has like a 3.2 GPA, and he has family in New York.
He also said Drexel was in the building eyeing him. If Cotton really wanted to catch Ricks eye than he should join some Vegas Tournaments(after all he lived in Vegas for a long time and is his home away from home) because Rick always goes to the Vegas tournaments.
I was talking to my dad the other day and we both went on the blog, and he said and I quote "I took it as a joke that he(Cotton) would come to the Ville, now I am really stressing for him to come, and it gets me pondered that this guy with amazing talent is being overlooked!"
But that is the latest I have so far if you want to you can hit me up at 520 289 2092 for more information.
FOREVER! BOTH of your biggest CARDS fan in AZ!

This is your best article yet, Austin
As for Bryce, the only thing I can think is get some awesome highlight videos and send them in to coach. With any luck, somebody on the staff will take a look. I can guarantee you though, Cotton will not get a scholarship, but being a walk-on isn’t completely out of the question. It’s a longshot, but a shot nonetheless. If you all want it, don’t give up.
Agreed.
Much better written post. And spell-checked, too, I’ll wager.
Speaking of long shots, Austin, we may be related. Montgomery is my last name too, and my father’s family came from out west. Send me an email at rickm (at) mac.com and let’s talk genealogy.
I would love to be related to Austin
It would complete my life.
Complete.
Thanks man, I paid good attention this time.

I’m gonna go ahead and say that the phone number posting might be a miscalculation. Might wanna edit that out.

Austin is feeling it right now,
you can’t stop him, you can only hope to contain him. I think Bryce Cotton looks like a young Preston Knowles. Could mean greatness.
Shhh...shhh...
C’mon Mike, let the boy learn.

If Bryce Cotton goes to St. Johns
What are the odds of a Jeremy Hazell-esque explosion by BC against L’ville—3-1?

IF
Freshman Bryce Cotton were to hit a last second shot to lift St. John’s and first-year head coach Steve Lavin over Louisville…well I don’t think I’d be able to do anything for a solid 2-3 weeks.

See, this is what I'm talking about.
Punctuation, spelling, grammar, and actual teams that people care about showing interest (if it’s true in any way, that is). This is how you get people to read your stuff with earnest interest.
Now, about the tuition. It is true that in state tuition at UofL is pretty cheap at around $8500/year (seems like it has gone up quite a bit since just last year… yikes). Out of state, on the other hand, is more than that per semester. You’re looking at over $20k/year. Still, not terrible, but not a drop in the bucket either. That’s about half the yearly salary of a lot of middle class families. Of course, that’s not counting financial aid, but it’s also not counting room, food, books, or living expenses either.
$20k a year seems expensive
until you look at the cost of higher education in other states. Kentucky is remarkably cheap in terms of out of state tuition and is cheaper than in-state tuition in many places, including places like Ohio and PA.
But yeah, even Kentucky being a cheaper option doesn’t mean its affordable to everyone either.

Believe me I know.
I wanted to go to Kettering, but it was going to be about $35k/yr, back in 2005. But like you said, it’s still not that cheap, and still considerably more expensive than a lot of small city school and considerably more expensive than just taking a scholarship to a D2 school or JUCO.
Maybe he can walk on and in a season or two get a scolarship if one opens up. Coach said one his bigest concerns is the PG position after siva we are pretty thin. This guy runs the floor and plays good D which is what we’re going to be all about so it seems like a good fit.
really
I know the kid has the money

Come on down Bryce!!
Bryce you should go ahead and change ya area code to 502…You and Peyton would give everyone problems!!
Come on now....
Lets chill out with the comparisons though! Bryce could be Preston….you trying to run the kid off…no knock to Preston…thats my dude but Bryce is more explosive and looks to finish at the rim more!!

I agree.
I have no idea if I can take anything here seriously anymore.
Haven’t been this confused since the first time I saw Memento.
I saw the Crying Game. And “confused” far from accurately describe my resulting emotional state.

I don’t know if Cotton will ever play for the Cards, but I know i’ll be keeping track of the kid wherever he goes. AM you’ve done a good job of attracting our attention to him (maybe not far enough that we clamor for him to be a Card, but atleast enough that people are posting in the threads) but as great as CC is, I don’t think we can pull a scholarship or walk-on offer for the kid (that would have to earn an !).
However, and I don’t know much about recruiting regulations, but why not try and get the kid noticed at a school closer to Arizona or one that has some sort of reciprocity tuition arrangement with Arizona or something. He looks like he can play a bit, but like others have said, it’s hard to judge the competition and where Louisville is as a program and wanting to go, I don’t think they would take a serious look at a kid who wasn’t already highly regarded ( i think we tend to collect our walk-ons from in-state).
But hey I wish Bryce and you the best and hope you guys do whatever you can (legally) to get him to a school where he can showcase his talents and hopefully enjoy a solid college career. And good luck to you on your journalist aspirations, this post was much better, though it would probably be better to go email over phone number next time, that way you can just create a new one and not have to worry about getting random strangers calling you from the internet.
