I have no idea if this is legit or not but are we getting new helmets and uniforms this year? I have a couple of friends still in The Ville and they said that is the word all new uniforms this year. Because I am in Japan I don't get too many word on the street news from back home. Does anybody have a clue?

That we are the “feature school” for Adidas’ 2010 uniform line. No idea what that means, but it sounds cool.
If those are our helmets I will sober yack twice a game.

1) I’m slightly surprised (oh, the power of Strong!)
2) This would change my mind a little on the decision to re-up with adidas, which I wasn’t a big fan of. Part of the deal may have been an increased profile of the Cards within adidas’ national CFB marketing?

We’re not giving our players hand-me-downs. That would be bad for recruiting. So… through the Cardinal head and the L together and you get a super- Louisville logo? Haha. I was kind of enjoying just the Cardinal head on the helmet. Oh well.

Regardless of any logo changes, I’m glad to hear we will be getting new unis this year. I felt like we had the last ones for a decade [exaggeration]…
The color of the red was actually drastically different from 05 to 06 and later.
It’s kinda weird to go back and watch videos of the games from 05 and earlier and see the red look almost orange.

I don’t think photoshop can turn the helmet to face the other way. Those are different pictures.
the whole picture is changed the other way. that easy to do in photoshop… those seem to be the same image mirror’d. The jmgrand01’s image looks more legit as you can see the decal, the first one with the L and the small cardinal head seems photoshopped to me.

Message Board rumor
This has been making its rounds around the multiple UofL message boards. I believe someone took the image of the new logo and photoshopped it onto a helmet. I had heard back in the spring we’re going with white facemasks. But this is wishful thinking on someone’s part I believe. I hope so, because it’s ugly.
Upon further inspection
Clearly photoshopped. If it was real, you would be able to see some lighting variation and curvature in the logo (i.e. following the curvature of the helmet). In general, I don’t mind the logo. It would be cool on a polo or something, just not the main logo for football helmets.
you can also see the reflected light from the red facemask in the original picture in the shadows the facemask casts on the helmet.
I actually kind of like it. Sort of remind me of those nike uniforms osu and florida wore one game last season, kind of retro. I dont want to see just the cardinal bird go away, but maybe for a game or two.
I really want to see us go with all white uniforms though, like the Texas look except much better with little bits of red and black. The white facemask is a good start. Makes the whole look a lot cleaner and less like an arena football team.

I think it will look good up close but I think it’s questionable as to how they’ll look from for away. I’ve always liked the traditional Cardinal bird but I’m not against trying something different.

too small to have an impact from a distance. I sure hope we get new BLACK helmets….when we wear all black with the white helmets, it drives me bonkers.. Just not good. It’s important that we get a whole new look this year though – no carry over whatsoever from SK….I still can’t type that name in its’ entirety. Go CARDS!

It's different, and while I do like our current helmet
we haven’t changed helmet designs (only minor tweaks, read: bird updates) since 1985.

We apparently busted out the new black stripe helmets when we played ourselves on November 27th last year. I guess I missed that one.
I hope this is not our new helmet. It looks likes something a 3rd grader would do. Plus the new Ls and Cardinal birds suck.

Why can't we go with something classic like Arizona?
If you look at the unis of all the classic football schools you notice one commonality….not a bunch of modern crap or modifications in the uniforms. USC, Penn State, Alabama, Notre Dame, Michigan, Texas, Ohio State….I could go on…I even loved Syracuse’s from a few years ago with the numbers on the helmets. Needless to say, I’m a traditionalist. I’d like to see the Cards dispose of the old English and go with something more in line with the Arizona Cardinal uniform. Make the bird a little more classic, paint the face mask a traditional grey, even out some design and bring it a little more in line with something classy and timeless. Just one man’s opinion.
Not a big fan of that helmet. One of the best parts of college football is the tradition. Just think about Penn State’s uniforms or Notre Dame’s. I know we have very little tradition on which to build, but I think we should keep the traditional helmet and uniform we’ve had for some time. I don’t want the uniforms, as they have become at Oregon, to become the story.
I don't think we'll officially use that L on our uniforms from here on out.
UofL implemented a new typography last year that completely does away with the Old English font. I don’t know if the athletic department is still using it, but I would imagine it would only be on merchandise, and not on the uniforms.

I think the white helmet with all black uniforms is awesome
I wouldn’t mind a black helmet, but it would look somewhat similar to Cincinnati’s uniforms.
