Samardo doesn't even get drafted so I guess all those murmurs about his stock rising after the workouts was all smoke and mirrors.  However, Derrick Caracter gets drafted by the Lakers late in the second round.  I'm not a big draft guy but this is fascinating just from a UofL fan point of view.  I guess Coach Pitino (and all of us) was right about Samuels.  Europe might call I suppose.  Too bad Caracter was such a headcase.  I always thought he had some great raw talent to be developed.

In local news (not that anyone cares) the Blazers pick up two kids from Nevada, one from Memphis, a former Friar and Paul Allen fires his stellar GM on draft day.  Amazing and bizarre, but not necessarily unexpected in the Vulcan world of Paul Allen.

In other news it looks like DeMarcus Cousins will be playing with Francisco Garcia down in Sacramento.  I personally think Cousins is going to be an impact player.  And this just in...apparently having five players from your school drafted in the first round is the new NCAA Championship.  Wow.  Somehow the measuring stick for success really changed this year.  I'm confused.  Does 2+2=5 Winston Smith?
