I just came across an article on Sports Illustrated.com featuring Elvis Dumervil, talking about him signing a $3.17M restricted free agent (RFA) tender while his contract is being finalized with the Denver Broncos. I miss this guy. Not only do I miss Elvis' character, shown by signing the tender so he can report to his team's passing camp, but I miss the pass rushing capability of our defensive line.
Remember Elvis? The guy everyone said was too small for the NFL coming out of college... the same guy that still holds Louisville's single-game sack record of 6 sacks (Kentucky, 2005)... the same guy who won several college awards and was a 2009 Pro-Bowl selection... the same guy who was stomped on the leg by Marcus Vick, eventually ending Marcus' college and NFL chances. Don't tell this man what he cannot do.
The Cards desperately need a pass rusher like Elvis. The Big East quarterbacks need to feel the pressure in order for us to win games. I have faith in Coach Strong to find those recruits and better yet, coach them to be a threat once again on the quarterback. Do you see anyone on the current roster who might be able to improve our pass rushing capability? While I miss Elvis Dumervil (and always think of him while driving past exit #3 on 264), it would be nice to not miss him anymore.
