Justin Coleman Derby Classic highlights

Quality and music selection aren't the best, but you should be able to get the gist...the gist being that Justin Coleman is really good at basketball.

does anyone know if he's eligible yet?

i might lose my mind if he isn’t eligible to play next year.

Also, apparently Russell Smith messed up his knee at the game?

Stud athlete. I hope he can shoot.

And of course, I hope like hell he is eligible.

I wasn't there

But in the highlights on courierjournal website show him hitting a few threes.
And yea apparently Russel Smith either sprained or tore some ligaments in his knee during the game.

Holy crap

I had read about the kick-oop dunk but I still gasped when I saw it. That was sick.

i thought..

his first dunk was better, nothing to special about the kick-oop other than the kick.

Sick indeed

Though a Level 12 dunk ninja would’ve rainbowed the ball to himself. Your move, Kobe.

I was there and the video does nothing for the live moment.....

I think the bigger picture though is if we can get Dieng on board this is going to be a solid recruiting class…. Elijah Justice is going to be a fan favorite…He’s really impressed me….Gourgi Dieng was dominant on the defensive end blocking and changing shots….I was just imagining him at the 4 and TJ at the 5…. there would be no shots being taken in the paint…. Russ Smith looked ok…..really didnt do anything to impress me…..And finally Justin Coleman looked great…. he’s very athletic and has an all around game….Looks like he can do it all……..Kind of early for T WILL comparisons but if he buys in to Rick’s deffensive philosophy he will be a good one…..

I'm sure he can't shoot, but we dont need him to

And even IF he COULD, Rick will fu** em up. Just hope we ge some T-Will action. We will never have a consistent long range shooter. But the kid fits our system like a glove. Exactly what we need, athleticism.

Actually, he can shoot.

He was 3-7 from behind the arc during the game, and one of his strong points is his ability to shoot the ball and extend the defense.

And what do you mean Rick will fuck it up? He certainly helped T-Will become a better shooter (eventually, anyway). He got so much better, he tried making that his game in the NBA, and had to start all over again.

OK... He helped T-Will????

What Rick does is work on a players intangibles, witch some times translates into perimeter scoring. Thats why we get better as the season plays out. He builds a solid foundation because shooting comes and goes.

soooo

one member (coleman) of the freshman class may or may not be eligible. one is already hurt (r. smith). one may or may not show up (dieng). where have i heard this story before? this is why i clam up when people talk about us winning the title with the 2011 recruiting class. chickens before eggs and stuff like that.

good point

I don’t want to talk about how great we can be yet. Not to mention that not all freshman make a huge impact. Lance Stephenson anyone?
