Is Pitino worthy of a 4 year extension that will most certainly mean he will retiire here? Absolutly he does... .Lets face it without Pitino building on the foundation set by Denny there would be no Downtown Arena... And also If he were to leave who replaces the future hall of famer? I think with the move to the big east combined with our great facilities and tradition this is one of the top 5 jobs in the nation, but that doesn't mean one of the top teir coaches is going to leave there comfortable situation to come here, so that means we would have to go and get one of these up and comers not knowing what to expect from them when they face a rugged big east schedule and go from a 10,000 seat gym to an 22,000 seat arena . I dont know if I would wanna take that risk...I still think Pitino iis a great coach I think the problem is the assistant coaches he has surrounded himself with.. If you look back when Pitino had dominant seasons and championsship runs at kentucky he had good assistants on his staff ( Tubby Smith, Billy Donovan), Even when you look at the year of our final four run he had good assistants ( Kevin Williard, Mick Cronan),,,,,I just think the assistants he's got now are taking up bench space....Yea I know Ralf Williard is the father of Kevin Williard and has been on Pitinos staff before but seeing him on the bench during games, it just looks like he's lost the love for basketball or he's just not into it for some reason..
