Ding Dong the Witch is Dead
In order to keep the lovely denizens of CC Country from trolling big blue boards, here is where you can post your thoughts on the Big Blue's demise.
I didn't want to rub things in too much, but I definitely shot off a series of texts to my UK buddies and they were none too happy. I did admit that they probably feeling like we all felt at this point last year after the MSU debacle.
Anyways, post your thoughts on how great the the rest of your spring and summer will be not having to hear how dominat our enemies to the east were/are/always will be...cause their not!

What Does the UK loss mean to U of L? Comments encouraged.
The UK loss is important for U of L fans for more reasons than just avoiding hearing UK fans brag about another championship. Bragging rights are always nice and UK fans do need to be humbled every so often and reminded that they aren’t God’s chosen basketball team. However, this loss has other real consequences for both teams. Most importantly, this season-ending loss for UK swings the momentum back in U of L’s favor. This UK team was hailed by many as their best team since 1996, but instead of winning the Championship, they end with an Elite Eight spot. With everyone complaining about how poor Louisville performed this year and talk about Pitino’s job, let’s remember that Louisville’s season last year ended similarly to UK’s this year,. Both teams won their conference championships and then ended their tournament runs with and Elite Eight spot. The only differences being that UK had fewer regular season losses (although an easier schedule) and U of L last year ended the regular season ranked number 1. This loss tells us that UK is not the dominant basketball team in the state. Louisville is not little brother. Instead, we have a coach who has won an NCAA championship (and hasn’t had any final fours taken away) and we’ll begin next season with arguably the best downtown arena in the nation. This all has an impact on recruiting. As long as Pitino can contain the negative impact of this extortion trial, we should be in position to get good recruits and become basketball team in the state.
Realistically
UK is dead for next year. At least half their ridiculously talented starting 5 are off to the NBA. There’s always the odd chance that they end up with another great recruiting class, but even if they got the best, it’s highly unlikely that they’d be another elite 8 team.
Louisville, on the other hand, has a ton of talented players with experience. Capable of great things. Let’s hope we get to watch them peak over the next couple years.

There's a video floating around out there that is even better.
I just hope this image is burned into UK’s brains for the next time they decide to faux shit on the Cardinal logo in Freedom Hall, or any other arena we play in. Karma’s a bitch.

A lot of asinine uk fans got a phat reality kick in the teeth tonight.
They were BEATEN by the BIG EAST! Their coach is a cheating douche bag who STILL doesn’t have ONE Final Four to his credit, and their school blew over $7 million to get him! F-A-I-L!!!!! And their players, props for playing their asses off, but they’re not NEARLY as good as the media-whoring outlets in this state have built them up to be. They enjoyed a long list of nothings to beat up on over the season, and now they know what happens when they’re overrated squad finally has to step in and face a great team. NEWSFLASH UK FANS – Your shit doesn’t smell any better than anyone else’s.

hey i hate calliparri just as much as the next guy
but doesnt he have two final fours to his credit… and he was trying to be like pitino this year by being the first to do it at three diff schools?
other than that, great post

No. In fact, calipari has no "official" final fours to his name
they were vacated at UMASS and at Memphis
At the rate he is going,
He will be the first (and probably only) coach to vacate three Final Fours at three different schools.

Funny FB Statuses from Last Night
UK Fans:
I think I’m gonna puke! Cats? Cats? Cats?
Is pissed 0 for 17 really???? Come on cats it west virgina!
West Va. played well, but UK played like SHIT! John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins, if you don’t come back next year and redeem yourselves, then worst of luck to you…
Thinking of drinking my UK sorrows away tonight. Dammit how did you guys mess that game up seriously?
Itll be all ok cat fans, remember we got lot great memories ahead. Cal took us to Elite 8 in one year, imagine what he can do rest of the time he is here. far from a failure.
UofL Fans:
BEAT THOSE CATS! Ahhh… loss to the first good team you had to play in the tournament… clearly a disappointment.
Good try! Good try!
I haven’t said one bad thing about UK all year… But I find it appropriate tonight… Welcome to the Big East guys :) How do you do that John Wall dance again?
Last time WVU made the elite 8 they played a team from KY and made every three pointer but with a different result from tonight.

Just shows the real side of the UK fanbase.
John Wall and Cousins (as much as I hate him) did great things for that team this year. Pretty piss poor attitude to say ‘worst of luck to them’.
-Dustin
Yeah
I’m sure most UK fans would rather continue taking classes and playing college basketball than make 6 or 7 figures and play in the NBA. I read some other blog post by a UK fan talking about how Calipari should somehow be able to convince these kids to stay…ha! I can’t wait to see them fall short of expectations next year. It’s almost guaranteed.

I doubt Cousins, Wall, et al have gone to a single spring semester class
It’s hard to play catch-up this late in the semester. They’re gone just like any of us would be.
When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome again. True story.
-Barney Stinson
how sweet it is!
Did anyone see the sadness and disappointment in Matt Jones on WLKY with Fred Cowgill?? Priceless!!!!!!!!!!!! Matt Jones you suck….how about an article on how your cats choked and are still OVERRATED~!!!!!
Let's face it: UK's success was a product of their schedule.
Everybody got impressed when they beat UNC and UConn. Those teams didn’t even make it to the tournament. Basically, the highest tournament team they played all season was Tennessee, who handed them one of their three losses. West Virginia was hands down the only top 5 team they saw all year, and look what happened.
It happened to Calipari at Memphis, and it’s happening again at UK. Those conferences do not prepare you to play in the tournament when you have all freshmen leading your team.

Cal just got outcoached
Huggins was brilliant to play the 1-3-1 the way he did. Putting Muzzala (sp?) fronting cousins down-low was a huge gamble, but it worked. Also was a huge gamble to have one of best rebounders in Ebanks hounding the guards, but it worked as well. Inexperience really caught up to this Kentucky team, and like typical Cal teams they choked on the free throw line. The guy isn’t so much a coach, but a talent scout. It is hard to argue that their have been many who have done less with more than John Calipari. He has all the rivals.com victories in the world, but to date, no official final four appearances and no national titles. let the streak continue.
Kentucky fans should look on the bright side
They won’t have to vacate a 2010 Final Four appearance.
I'm wondering where all the "close up shot of an eyeball with the UK logo in it" facebook avatars have gone? :)
