Friday Night Open Thread
Anyone else out there watching basketball? I am.
So I went to the Kroger in the Highlands and they had DiGornio's and CPK frozen pizzas for $4.47, which is a great deal. So I stood there in front of the freezer and joked about screaming "THAT'S A GOOD PRICE!!" like the guy in the hilarious (for now) Staples commercial. Mrs. CardsFan922 was not amused. I bought 4 pizzas.

Florida
Getting hammered by Mississippi State and Georgetown pulling away from Marquette.
If anyone picks all 66 games right this year they should win $1,000,000,000,000 because there is just no way to confidently pick these games.
Even as a Georgetown alum I would much rather be watching Syracuse-Nova’s rematch right now. WVU/ND will be an awesome game, though. Other teams losing takes away the sting of the other night.
Remember that last game at Freedom Hall? That game was awesome.
Huge implosion by Dayton capped by a punch/technical

They're out
Xavier sucks. I’d love for them to slip to a seven opposite us for a little ’04 revenge.

I disagree
I think X would beat us. I would much rather face Gonzaga or Northern Iowa or Butler. Besides Zaga, we would out talent the other 2, and who knows about Zaga lately.
Also GaTech beating MD....
….I am REALLY wary of all of these ACC teams. I think we could easily have an Oklahoma ‘08/Arizona ’09 type game against any of them, but also lose a Marquette type game against them. They just seem like athletic/small teams who want to run and don’t have any superstars.
Hard to tell when they all just keep playing each other.
Georgetown is liable
to win ever game in the BET by double-digits and then get handled in the first round of the dance.

Totally....
..although they did handle Duke pretty well. I don’t understand how they lose games the way they looked against us. They basically rely on three really good players and if 2/3 of them have great games, they are tough to beat, if all three have great games, they are impossible to beat.
I don’t see how the committee seeds Big East teams. ND is going to have a better seed than we do, but can you move them all the way up to a 5? How pissed is the 3 going to be to get ND in the 2nd round?
I love this time of year. Nothing better.
Excuse me, I meant....
….totally UofL type finish. Maryland has the ball down 3 with 12 seconds, the only player on Maryland anyone knows dribbles up the court and everyone knows he’s taking the shot, and as he goes up on a step back move that he basically told his man he was going to do, the guy guarding him strips it perfectly and Vasquez gets called for an intentional foul.
Multiple free throws for GaTech…
Against my better judgment...
…I switched over to UF/MSU for the last 1:40 in a close game. Just don’t do it.
I wouldn't want to face any team from the Big East in the tournament this year

This UNM SDSU game is pretty good.
This is the first time anyone’s ever said this: I’m glad I have CBS-C.

Down goes UNM
Does that drop them or are they a safe 2? If we get a 10…..is there another team we’d want as a 2?

Baylor
If Baylor comes back against KSU, they could sneak up to a 2. I just can’t take Baylor seriously.

So, what's the feeling about Sunday?
You guys think UofL is in for sure? Seems like everyone has us as a 10 seed or so, which should mean 8 at-large teams (or so) get in after us. That’s a pretty good buffer. The guy from Sports Illustrated’s got me nervous though. He claims the only one that called ‘Cuse not making it in ’07. Do you all think he’s just trying to rile people up, or is UofL really in trouble?

We are a lock.
This year has such a weak bubble. No way they can exclude a team that beat a #1 seed twice. Plus with Notre Dame’s recent success, it makes our win over them a bit more impressive.

I'm nervous
All we have are the wins over Syracuse. I don’t trust bracket people at all. I think we could end up at 11 or maybe 12. who knows? I’m rooting like hell for every bubble team to lose so we look better
Lock
No doubt we’re in, but I disagree with most here and even with Lunardi. I think Louisville’s gonna be a 9 and possibly even as high as 8. Beating a probable 1-seed twice is big. And you have to factor in the screw jobs in 2 games by the refs. The WVU game in particular, now that they’re in the BET Finals and playing well with a high ranking. The Committee pays attention to these details. Watch – I bet we’re gonna be 8/9.
We could have played WV
so much better than ND did last night. Maybe. I think both WV and ND should be the dud of the yesterday because that game was slow going/low scoring and sucked because WV won another tight one.
