So....

Could Syracuse play their way out of a 1 seed?

Down 8 with under 2 minutes to go.

"It's not the South, it's not Chicago, and you don't think of it as you think of New York or L.A. It has some Southern romanticism to it, but also a Northern progressivism, this weird urban island in the middle of the state of Kentucky...For us, Louisville and the surrounding areas are the center of massive creativity and massive weirdness." - Jim James, My Morning Jacket

Fuck you Cuse

they needed at least this one and played awful.

Go Houston over Memphis?

Syracuse certainly didn't help our cause.

Of course, no one was worse for our cause than we were ourselves. I’m finding it hard to be enthusiastic about either Selection Sunday or our role in the tournament. And this is supposed to be the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.

I agree

We are NOT a lock, nor do we deserve to be. We played our way right out of it.

Go Cards!

lock

We are a lock. We looked like an 8/9 before Big East tourney, we look like a 9/11 now. Best thing for us: most small conferences have been won by favorites so far so not many 2-bid leagues. And remember, like 50 teams will lose today and tomorrow.

Cuse is still a 1 seed. Maaaaybe WVU/Nova win the tourney and take their spot but it is highly unlikely.

We just have to wait til Sunday. Sucks. But in the meantime, all but like 5 teams will lose a game.

We are a lock.

I agree

Those who think we’re not a lock have clearly not looked at the teams that are actually on the bubble. If you think we’re bad, just check out who we’re competing against. Our computer numbers and conference wins are very favorable. Leaving a team out with our credentials in any year would be unprecedented, much less this year. Let’s face it folks, this has been a terrible year for college basketball. Not any great teams out there, and very few good ones.

thirded

but I just want to make totally sure….and that’s why I’m watching Houston-Memphis on CBS College Sports. Some high quality play. Quote of the game: “He’s hungry and he wants to eat some iron.” What does that even mean?

I agree we're in the dance.

My point was I’m not enthusiastic about our chances. Someone said on another thread that we can beat anyone in the country. I don’t think so. I think this is the most unathletic team we’ve had since the last year of the Crum regime. That said, I hope like hell they surprise me and make a run to the final 16. That would be a major, major accomplishment for this group.

Besides Kansas

I think Louisville can play with anyone in the country. Not a lot of consistently dominant teams this year.

I don't buy the "unathletic" stuff

Delk, Kuric, Siva, Sosa, and Jennings are all very athletic.

We can beat anyone in the country. The problem is, we can also lose to anybody in the country.

Well, I sure hope you're right.

Still think a run to the Sweet 16 would be make this year a success. And if we’re to be an 8 or a 9, I hope we’re in Kentucky’s bracket. It would be glorious to spoil their season.
