Tim Patterson picks Kentucky
Wow. Central stud linebacker Tim Patterson will be a Wildcat.
Making this worse: the fact that I already had a "Patterson stops the bleeding, commits to U of L" post written out.
Patterson, who had been rather infamously ignored by the Kragthorpe administration, is rated as the top player in the state by every major recruiting service.
"He's a big deal," recruitiing guru Tom Lemming said of Patterson. "I know Louisville took a commitment (Pleasure Ridge Park's Brandon Dunn) from Kentucky, but (Patterson) is the best prospect in the state."
Patterson was a four-year starter at Central, and led the Yellowjackets in tackling three times. He's ranked No. 31 at outside linebacker in the nation by Rivals. As a junior he had 95 tackles, two sacks and two interceptions and as a senior he had 92 tackles in 11 games before tearing a knee ligament and undergoing surgery. He helped lead Central to two state titles during his career.

What the crap is going on?
Why would Strong ask all those other guys to gray-shirt unless he thought he was 100% on these guys (Wilson, Patterson).
I was unsure about Patterson
The fact that we lost him to Kentucky hurts more than losing him as a player, but the Northwestern guys bailing is an enormous shot to the gut.

What Kentucky fans would have said about Patterson
if he had signed with Louisville is that the kid has yet to qualify academically. Maybe a big loss, maybe a big disappointment averted later.
I’m sure JC there will help Patterson, just like he did Rose…

Possibly.
It still hurts, just losing him to UK. I guess it will take us a few years to get back to being the state’s destination school.
I just don’t understand how a lifelong UofL fan commits to UK for sports. Academics, ok, but sports? I just can’t imagine playing for my lifelong rival.

On a side note:
It appears his ACT score was the problem. I think UK requires like a 17. You get 12 for putting your name on it and completing it.
I got an 18 when I first took it… in 7th grade.

Meh
I saw Patterson in person and he didn’t impress me all that much. Yes, he’s huge, but he’s appeared lazy, apathetic, and seemed to take every other play off. Not very mature, it appeared.
He may go on to be an All-American for the Cats, but I think he has bust all over him.
"It's not the South, it's not Chicago, and you don't think of it as you think of New York or L.A. It has some Southern romanticism to it, but also a Northern progressivism, this weird urban island in the middle of the state of Kentucky...For us, Louisville and the surrounding areas are the center of massive creativity and massive weirdness." - Jim James, My Morning Jacket
Salvage possible?
I already had a “Patterson stops the bleeding, commits to U of L” post written out.
Can you change it to read “Harris”?
May the loss of Tim Patterson be the last vestige of crap
hurled on our program by the former coach-who-shall-remain-unmentioned. Let this be the last bit of his detritus we have to clean up.
