PrintA big-time class of 2010 land for Charlie Strong late in (or completely after) the game, as four-star defensive tackle De'Antre Rhodes committed to Louisville today.
Rhodes, a 6-3, 280-pound behemoth out of Richmond, had previously committed to Virginia Tech. He had scholarship offers from 20 BCS conference schools, including Tennessee, Michigan, Georgia and Penn State.
Charle Strong: simultaneously dominating on the recruiting trail and in the open thread.

If De'antre Rhodes was injured/sitting out in basketball
He would give Chris Smith and George Goode a run for their money. The kid can coordinate

Apparently this kid was supposed to go to VT last season but had to go to a year of prep school for some reason. He was supposed to go back this year too before changing to us.
Not sure what the full story is, but it’s a good get nontheless.

this vaults us ahead of UK in the Rivals team rankings of recruiting classes for 2010.

Exactly what I was thinking.
He might pull in a top 10 class. We’d dominate the Big East for sure (if we don’t already with Kelly gone).

Louisville coach Charlie Strong told reporters that he had two spots left that the Cardinals would fill with the top late qualifiers he could find. The Louiville coaches landed a big fish Friday morning with the signing of four-star defensive tackle De’Antre Rhodes.

CS had said in the post press conference that the last spot will be for a deserving person on the team that doesn’t have a scholarship yet. It is a good thing for the remaining players to work hard.

It sure is a pleasent change of events for the U of L Football Cards. I would even go on to say that the entire University has felt an uplift in spirit since CS was hired.

lol......gotta watch your recruits around coach STRONG....
all it takes is a visit and the rest is history….out of all the recruits that visited if we didnt land them we vaulted to the top of their list….it didnt matter if they were already committed or not…It just something about this man that people love…He hasn’t coached a snap at PJCS yet but has us thinking football in mid febuary…. Thats quite a victory in its self…
