Billy Gillispie likely a candidate for the Depaul job
If ever there was a man poised to pick up where Jerry "The Human Cartoon Character" Wainwright left off...
BS2 Chicago.com is reporting that Billy Gillispie has a shot at coming back to coach next season in the Big East.
Chicago radio personality Mike North says his sources tell him that the former Kentucky coach is a likely candidate for DePaul.
In January, DePaul fired Coach Jerry Wainwright, after the team lost 22 straight regular-season games in the Big East Conference. He was replaced on an interim basis by assistant Tracy Webster.
Webster was an assistant for Gillisipie at Kentucky.
This bodes well for a Louisville program that is looking to build on its win-streak over Depaul of forever years.

Go pro now, Mac.

Not related to this post at all.
But here’s a story that somewhat involves Reece Gaines. http://deadspin.com/5473324/d+league-ball-up-close-and-personal
"It's not the South, it's not Chicago, and you don't think of it as you think of New York or L.A. It has some Southern romanticism to it, but also a Northern progressivism, this weird urban island in the middle of the state of Kentucky...For us, Louisville and the surrounding areas are the center of massive creativity and massive weirdness." - Jim James, My Morning Jacket
Unfortunately Depaul already sucks. We need he who shall not be named to consul Gillespie on how to get a job he is not qualified for. Although going by his work at UK, he seems to be well versed in the area.
Gillespie at Marquette anyone?
They gone have to stop sleeping on me one day.. I gotta be one of the best

Perfect spot for
him. I heard they were already offering 8th graders scholarships based on height.

Surly Texan at a cold weather school in an impossible conference
What could possibly go wrong?
I guess the guy deserves a second chance
and you can’t get much worse than Depaul. It’s sad to see this once really good program built by Ray Meyer be in shambles now. I can’t imagine this small town Texas guy being able to handle Chicago. I think Lex was a bit too big of a city for him. Too many watering holes in the Windy City.
Maddie in Portland, Oregon
The problem was that Lex wasn't big enough
everything there is UK basketball. Cal is the right guy for that job, God smite him, but Billy never fit. As much as I hate to defend the guy, he got the job in the first place because he is a good coach. He’s a good coach, that is, as long as he doesn’t have to maintain any kind of public image, give anyone the impression that he respects the program, deal with the media, stay sober, or sign his contract. He needs a place big enough that noone will notice when he’s working on game plans at his favorite watering hole, but a school small enough that a winning record will be enough to keep his job. Depaul\Chicago sounds like just the place for him.
