Louisville beats Syracuse at something again

Justin Burke gets his moment in the sun. Titus Teague jersey is undefeated. Unbelievably awesome game thread. Unbelievably awesome Hakeem Smith. Incredible effort by the coaching staff and the team.

Louisville football is fun again.

Am I the only one??

Trying to figure out how we beat the best/second best team in the Big East this year at there house without our best offensive weapon and our starting QB?

Not to take anything away from our guys

but I think the Cuse was overrated.

Fantastic win

This was just the thing our program needed to wash the foul Pitt taste away.

Great road win against a good team (still can’t believe I’m saying that about Syracuse). Two more wins guarantees our boys a bowl.

Great game

and first close win in a long time.

Wouldn't Have Happened

The name we do not speak could not have gotten this done. That shows how far this team/coaching have come. Coach made no excuses before the game for the absence of Powell and Froman. And then delivered!

by pienso on Nov 6, 2010 5:09 PM EDT reply actions

I hope Froman's OK

but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that a big part of me hopes Burke gets at least one more start. His confidence will be sky high after this and we usually own South Florida in The Oven. Let’s let the guy get us to 6 wins, even if Froman’s ok to go next weekend. If Froman’s not quite 100%, that lets HCCS hand the ball to Burke without getting inside Froman’s head too much, I think. Meanwhile, don’t you just love our defense??? They hit freaking HARD! And yeah, they make mistakes in coverage still, but they still end up holding teams up when it matters the most. Cincinnati was the only team to basically score at will for any extended amount of time in any game this year. OSU had a few drives, too, but the defense held them when later in that game. I like our chances to go 7-5. 8-4 isn’t even out of the question, but I don’t think we win ’em all without some breaks.

on Burke. He started off a little shaky, but really settled down. If we’re not going to utilize the run a whole lot from the QB position, then I really enjoy have a strong arm back there to deliver the ball downfield on time.

Plus Burke really came through on some clutch third and fourth down plays.

You are damn right. Louisville football is fun again. It is nice to feel like we can win going into every game.

Coaching matters.

sanford

Sanford, da O-line, and the D were very impressive. The people making plays today were mostly all part of last year’s squad…. so can I please be redundant in expressing my pleasure with the new coaching staff. Strong is a beast and Sanford is dam good too!

What ever happened to Demar Dorsey and the other guy that was supposed to come to U of L over the summer?

by jrcard on Nov 6, 2010 9:03 PM EDT reply actions

GOOD QUESTION

NEVER have I seen two so highly hyped players just seemingly disappear without a trace. Its like there is NO information on them. Last I heard Dorsey was in limbo as to whether he was clear to play by the NCAA and Jordan Campbell was on the team practicing and waiting to be cleared to play. WTF HAPPENED? Its like a black hole of information on them both. Rutherford?? Can you help us out here???

by scorpiocard on Nov 6, 2010 9:52 PM EDT up reply actions

Was just gonna answer that but you beat me to it

I love the thought of having either one of those guys next year, along with more Strong recruits, to continue to bolster a defense which is already overachieving

Today was a good day

I don’t care if Syracuse tanks, we still kicked their ass the second half. We have a winning record in November, we have a chance to make a bowl, and we play with passion. It’s very fun to watch. Plus, I didn’t have to use my AK. Today was a good day

by cardscott5 on Nov 6, 2010 10:29 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

Dorsey is......

Ineligible, but not sure about Campbell, unless he gets to red-shirt again or something, that would give him 2 years and that would be sweet. Burke stepped up in the 2nd half, along with Wright, and the D. However i’m concerned most with the injury to our starting center Mario Benevidies, dude is a player.

by ville 606 on Nov 6, 2010 10:30 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

Campbell is.....

the one I am most confused about. He was cleared to practice and then I never heard anything more about him. Is he still on the team? Why is he not playing? He came from USC and is supposed to be able to play right away because they are on probation. I have heard rumors that maybe he did not have all of his grades up to snuff before he came here, but I have never heard anything solid about him after he was cleared to practice.

Oh noes

Hopefully we dont have another Pitino situation… lol
Is Dorsey ineligable permanently or just for this year

Just this year, from what I understand. Next year is looking better and better got jonathon dowling, him and dorsey both are top 15 recruits.

Dowling

Dowling was kicked off the team at uf. I think he was probably used as an example by Meyer that he has control over his program.

The word on the net is that he will end up here. we have all the guys that recruited him on our staff now.

He wouldn’t be eligible next year though would he?

by TheRealSlimShady on Nov 7, 2010 4:36 PM EST up reply actions

If he was to enroll for 2nd semester and take summer courses it would be possible. As long as hes not too far behind. I dont know for sure. the word on dorsey, and the reason hes not playing right now is because he did not clear the ncaa clearinghouse soon enough, he should be available for spring practice.

by ville 606 on Nov 7, 2010 6:53 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

And he will have freshman or sophomore eiligibility?

Campbell is a weird situation he has been seen on the sidelines wearing his #7 jersey with no pads. Im sure they are waiting for next season. We are going to be kickass on defense next year and beyond.

Neither is listed on the team roster on the uoflsports.com website.

Just finished watching the game

and I was more than pleasantly surprised. Great team effort got the job done. It was a workman like production and the boys should be proud of getting a BE road win. It’s feels good to be a Card fan again. Thanks HCCS and our dedicated UofL players.

Nope

BEN Kragshirted him.

YES

He is a true froshman and was hurt BEFORE the season started so yes, of course they will red shirt him.

by scorpiocard on Nov 7, 2010 2:58 PM EST up reply actions

He played yesterday, hes the one that commited that personal foul that strong went ape shit on, after a kickoff.

by ville 606 on Nov 7, 2010 4:06 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

I apologize.

I obviously should have used the sarcasm button (~). I made the comment above as a joke b/c literally two dozen people asked this in the open thread yesterday and another dozen or so successfully answered that yes, it was Preston Brown, not Harris. Yet mass confusion still ensued.

Of course the irony it that we’re doing that all over again here…

How Does Syracuse

get 2 votes in the AP Top 25 this week? LOL Polls are so completely arbitrary and biased. It’s ridiculous that we don’t have a playoff system in CFB. Mumble grumble.

by CardsFanTX on Nov 7, 2010 3:17 PM EST reply actions

Dave Foster out of a TV station in Nashville put Syracuse 24th.

Can’t find any connection to Syracuse or New York, but really, once past 20 or so it’s just randomly pick a team.

by CardinalDude on Nov 7, 2010 3:46 PM EST up reply actions

Number 2 was Preston Brown

The player you were referencing was true freshman Preston Brown. If you check the roster there are two number twos.

Don't we have new uniforms?

Whatever happened to those new Adidas uni’s? Are we gonna wear them this year or what?

Players didn't like how tight they were,

didn’t want to show the other team how big their balls were and scare them off before the games. They’re waiting for a new design that lets their balls breathe easier.
