Georgia backs out of deal with Louisville

Stay connected for news and updates

The University of Louisville football team will open the 2011 season at North Carolina and not Georgia, as originally scheduled. UGA will pay U of L a $600,000 termination fee so that the Bulldogs can play Boise State in a game reportedly sought by ESPN.

The Cards and Tar Heels will also meet in 2012.

There is talk that Louisville and Georgia are attempting to work out another deal to play each other at some point down the road, but nothing official has come out about that.

This sucks, but what can you do? Money and television run the sport.
