Louisville mens basketball ranked #18
And no, we are not talking about 2011; the Year of Blackshear. We're talking about this year.
Sizzlin Siva and Thunderin TJ. Swooping Swop and Rim-Rocking Rock. Bombs from Marra and Kuric.
And, of course... Preston! (with a healthy wrist.)
I've been, I think, touting our upcoming 2010-2011 success more than most fans. I've posted here at CC that we'll make it to the big dance -- and suprise the pundits by outperforming our seeding. Now, after stumbling upon this Maddux Sports article, I feel more confident about my homerism. When 'money people' talk, it's time to start listening.
People working with money are a whooooole lot more serious about what they post. So there is no homerism in their post, and definitely some knowledgeable insights in the piece, although a glaring error is the inclusion of Sallie. Also I found it curious they didn't give any love to Kyle Kuric. Don't get me wrong, I'm not predicting he's going to be All Big East. Then again, I'm not predicting he won't. I am however, predicting he will have a few surprises for some opponents this year. (Probably not Syracuse however, whom I think we all agree will be on him like white on lawyers on a crash victim.)
They summarize with this, and don't try to tell me it doesn't get your heart beating a tick faster.
In ranking the Louisville Cardinals 18th in the nation, you’ve got to consider their potential which is huge. Of course a major dilemma is the need for so many guys to step up. Still, the talent is there and more often than not Rick Pitino has been able to exploit the talent on hand. Fifth in the Big East is possible and a Sweet 16 appearance is attainable.
A note to Terrence Jennings:
It's your time. Work out hard and represent ! TJ takin Da Ville to the Final Four = NBA paycheck

There's a lot of "ifs" with this year's team
If all of those “ifs” turn out positively, I don’t think this prediction is unachievable. Everyone needs to stay healthy and everyone needs to continue developing. I think the season hinges more upon Buckles and Siva than it does on Terrence Jennings. Those two are really the only players who have an offensive game that isn’t one-dimensional. If we’re going to be this successful, those two have to be the go-to players/scorers on this years team. Jennings is important too, but his value is his ability to rebound, play defense and run the floor.
Most of the other guys fill in as solid contributors and role players who make plays when called upon. I love Preston! as much as anyone, but if this team is counting on him to be its first or second leading scorer, I think it’s going to be a long season.
Feels like this is a "contract year" for everyone on the team
From my limited exposure to the team, no player except perhaps Siva is that much better than their backup. Step up this year with the increased minutes or become a role player the rest of your career.

Notice their pick for #19...
The Butler Bulldogs. Let’s hope the Cards live up to their billing. Should make for a very exciting game. First game in Yum could give us the advantage we need.
Quite a contrast when reflecting on the grim vibe on the Chronicle the last couple months
The best most people were hoping for was a first-round finish like last season. But, maybe these kids have it together and hopefully Coach P is refocused after the Sypher debacle and energized by the Yum Center and next year’s team.
Hopefully Blackshear doesn’t break his leg, Price doesn’t have open-heart surgery, and Behanan doesn’t beat up an old man and get himself dismissed from the team.
Can the Ville get a little love from Lady Luck and a bye-season from the Injury Bug next year? Pwwwease?
