Suns Don't Pick-Up Option on Clark
It's worrisome that Earl Clark is going to be a free agent with the potential lockout looming, but his current situation has been less than ideal. The article mentions how Steve Kerr, the GM of the organization when Clark was drafted, isn't around anymore. Also how they used the cap space cleared up from Stoudemire's departure to sign 3 forwards. I think any Louisville fan knows Clark has plenty of talent to play in the league a long time, but it also takes luck and the right situation (mostly luck). Here's hoping a fresh start is just what he needs, best of luck E5

That is not good...
I’ve always loved Earl’s game and have always thought if he could get a decent amount of playing time he could be a solid 6th man in the league. Sadly, it’s gonna be hard for him to earn that playing time now. Still, best of luck to Mr. E5.
Guess I'm in the minority
Always heard all the tout and hype, but I personally never saw much in the way of NBA credentials when watching Clark play outside of rebounding. He played selfish a lot of the time, wasn’t a great shooter, didn’t commit to his drives, and had bizarre decision making. I just never saw what people were talking about, and I watched the team pretty darn close that year (08-09).
Not surprised he’s in the position he’s in. But, that said, still wish him the best. Hope he gets picked up somewhere.

I hear you
Kayoss, I mostly agree. I do know he is very talented. 6’10" and very athletic. But he was extremely inconsistent, he had a low basketball IQ, he was a lock for 2-3 traveling violations per game, he wasn’t a consistent shooter… The guy had some spectacular highlights, and there were games when he looked like the best player in the country. But he would regularly follow up a SportsCenter play with a traveling or a foul on a 3-pt shooter or a careless turnover. I like the man, I was really hoping he’d surprise me and become a regular starter in the NBA, and I still hope he does, but my hopes aren’t high. Good luck with everything, though, Mr. Clark. Prove me wrong!

positive comments from the suns' coach, alvin gentry
On Earl and his teammate Jared Dudley:
“I think they’re going to be part of our team and are going to be a part of our team for a long time,” the head coach said. “I wouldn’t read anything into the thing about not extending them right now. There are a lot of factors out there.”
http://ktar.com/category/suns-articles/20101101/Suns-must-make-a-decision-on-Clark-and-Dudley/
and news just broke that Dudley signed a 5yr extension. If the Suns’ coach is to be believed.. this probably means the Suns are planning on re-signing Earl after the season, but most likely with a significant pay-cut (if they had picked up his option he would have been due $2.03 million next year).

Bad fit from Day 1. Earl came from a defensive minded system but went to a offensive minded team. I would love to see him in Utah or Boston where defense matters.
