Quincy Miller likely headed to Baylor
According to the omnipresent Adam Zagoria.
Quincy Miller will announce for Baylor, according to a source with direct knowledge. The source said Miller was down to Baylor and Louisville and that Louisville "ain’t getting him."
The 6-foot-9 1/2 Miller, the No. 1 power forward in the Class of 2011, originally had Duke and Oklahoma on his list, but did not take a scheduled visit to Duke last weekend and sources said the two sides had parted ways.
...
Whether Miller’s Westchester (N.C.) Country Day teammate Deuce Bello joins him at Baylor remains unclear. Bello visited Florida State this past weekend.
Rumor is that this announcement could come as early as tomorrow.

This combined with the Tony Woods news
has made this a terrible day to be a Louisville basketball fan.

If it is Baylor
I hope he says the Tony Woods thing was the last straw. I know this would never happen, but it may make Pitino rethink his moral ambiguity. Or just make me more upset about Tony Woods… Either way it’s still Monday
So,
are these the same type of sources that said Teague was a lock for Louisville? I just don’t understand why two big name recruits would commit to a school that is CURRENTLY being questioned about its recruiting practices? What the hell does CRP have to do to get these high level talents, other than offer incentives i.e. money and the like
Adam Zangoria is wrong a lot
Evan Daniels from Scout.com spoke to Quincy Miller today and said that he will not be committing today or tomorrow. So he was already wrong in stating that fact. He is wrong on a lot of stuff. I hope he is wrong on this one.

CRP doesn't pay people, evidently Baylor probably does.
I don’t blame him for not breaking the rules.

Not even reasonably true.
However, they did [legally] hire one of his AAU coordinators back when John Wall was being recruited.

Louisville just can't lose recruits
to the likes of Washington, Baylor, St. Johns, and whoever else.. It’s hard to believe that there is this much illegal stuff going on with every single one of our prospects. I don’t blame CRP at all because these are 17/18 yr. old kids we’re talking about but come on.
This is why I will be watching this all day:

If the point of these college-decision announcements is to build surprise and suspense
these kids are pretty awful at keeping secrets.

Just four days later, Dennehy’s body was discovered in a field near the Baylor campus. An autopsy report revealed that the 21-year-old had been shot twice in the head.
Bigger Problem
I’ve been a Cards fan longer than most people here have been gracing the planet. Doesn’t make me an expert but does provide for a historical/hysterical perspective. Unlike many, I do hold CRP accountable. There are many things wrong with recruiting but to ignore the obvious makes one look more like a cat fan than a card fan. The revolving door with assistant coaches, not executing the due diligence on recruits and his personal hubris are systemic viruses resulting in anemic recruiting classes. You make $2.5 million you are accountable.
Louisville is a premier sports program rich in basketball history supported by unparalleled fan base and matching facilities. Time to look in the mirror coach.
Excellent argument for those who say the "signs" are pointing toward more than a hiccup
His reputation as a HOF coach & his performance at UL 18-72 months ago are the 2 big bargaining chips in RP’s pocket. But who can argue that fans don’t have a right to constructively criticize him now?
Can he still get it done? The doubts—and doubters—are starting to pile up.

I just dont see how
Rick can get yet another free pass..I mean were finally getting our own state of the art damn place to play…no more sharing with the pussies. But is the program going to back it up with the excitement and wins? More than likely not. A “bridge into the future” is what he is calling this upcoming season. I think it should be “put your mouth where our money is.” Im growing weary of this same ol song and dance year in and out…
Come on, Rick. WTF….Baylor???

Woods
Second chances anyone? Look, there is another year and a half before he can become eligable (December 2011). Can’t Jurich and Pitino just make sure no monkey buisness happens between now and then? IF anything were to happen, we could just dismiss him. What he did was horrible, but I do believe that people can change.
Bilal Powell for Heisman!
Not surprising
We just don’t get the big name recruits.
I still say get little Rick back up here. He’s the only one who has landed a top prospect (Samuels) which proves he has what it takes. Why is Coach P wasting him at Florida? The Sypher thing is over. He should get his good buddy Donovan to send him back.

Wait…no that came out wrong.

Yeah, how did Samardo work out?
Recruits are a means to an end. Let’s judge him by his team’s results on the court, not by how many stars the recruiting services give his incoming classes.
Recruiters are judged by the level of talent they bring in
If a highly-touted prospect fails to live up to his predicted hype, you blame the coaching staff as a whole, not the guy who recruited him. Richard had every reason to believe Samuels was gonna be the real deal in college and he succeeded in convincing him to come here. Same situation is playing out now as it does every year. Difference is Rick is failing to get them to play here.
Not sure about anyone else, but I’d feel alot better about our team if we had 1 or 2 top prospects coming in each year versus one every 5 to 10 years.

or maybe, just maybe
evaluating the talent of high school kids is flawed. Maybe a 5* guy is that much better than his peers, but he tops out skill wise as a high school kid. Or a coach has a system and certain players don’t shine in that system.
Getting talented guys is nice yes, but Pitino’s success has mostly been with talented guy who need some coaching up (TWill for example).

True, but
his lone National Championship came at the hands of one of the greatest college basketball teams ever assembled.
Just sayin’.

Tony Wroten was "likely headed to Louisville"
Maybe this is a good sign, maybe CRP is gonna pull a rabbit out of his hat. Maybe, just maybe we land the kid and secure the commitment but if we don’t….. right or wrong the seat is warm.

When I said
to get rid of Pitino around the first of the year, everybody was defending him! Now those same one’s that were callin me crazy, stupid and everything else is all on board! Amazing how people jump on the bandwagon once shit happens that they dont like! He aint been doin shit for us for a couple yrs now. It’s time for a change. I agree, make “Lil Ricky” the new coach along with Tim fuller! Hell, i say, even get rid of old ass Ralph Willard too! These guys just can’t relate to young kids and sure as fuck cant recruit. We’re losing recruits to weak ass Baylor! Wroten was just a lil bitch and a mommaz boy that didnt wanna get homesick, lol!

A lot of things have changed since then...
Just because other fans are becoming frustrated doesn’t mean where on the bandwagon. I agree with the anger and frustration but lets not take all the credit.
by bjack357 on Oct 19, 2010 12:25 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
who said anything about credit???
I’ll wait for that answer but anyway…….all i’m sayin is that it seems like some fans are more worried about goes on off the floor than on it! When i was talking about coach p, it was about wins and loses and how he kept getting outcoached. I could care less who he’s fuckin in restraunts like i could really care less about Tony Wood incident that happened months ago and while he was at another school. He can play ball from what i see and we have no depth at big men!! Preston Knowles fucked somebody up and I didnt hear no one bad mouthing him like they are Tony Woods, a man that none of us really know!!

Nothing is official
I believe that he will go to Baylor but UL is still #2 and still going after guys. Not worried..yet…
