Quincy Miller cancels Duke visit
So now it's us and Baylor.
Quincy Miller, a 6-9 senior forward from Westchester (N.C.) Country Day, will not be there as originally scheduled after the two sides parted ways.
Miller, the No. 1 power forward in the Class of 2011, is also considering Baylor, Louisville and Oklahoma.
"Countdown to Craziness was a huge success last year and we are really excited to start this season with another great event," Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said, according to GoDuke.com. "Friday is going to be a special night for our players, coaches, fans and everyone involved with Duke basketball. We are looking forward to hitting the floor in Cameron and feeling the building shake in anticipation for the 2010-11 season."
Still think both he and Bello end up as Bears, but at this point it's nearly as likely that they sign with Clemson or somewhere else totally out of the blue.
They're 17 and 18-years-old. Showing up on campus is really the only action they can make that's worth paying any attention to.
And yet here we are.

Evan Daniels says it's us or Baylor.
Quincy, we’re talking about Baylor here. BAYLOR. We’re not talking about national titles, Final Fours, and All-Americans. We’re not talking about playing in the hottest and most hate-filled in-state rivalry in college basketball. We’re talking BAYLOR. Not the Big East and MSG, not the most exciting new arena in college basketball, not a Hall of Fame head coach and 22,000 fans at every game, but BAYLOR.
Can we really lose this guy to Baylor?

shouldn’t that be a problem for their recruits?

Quincy to Baylor

baylorfans.com seems to think he is theirs
all 3 of them-it just amazes me-there are virtually no fans down there-it is obviously not about the school or the fan support, tradition, coaches, or anything. which really should not surprise me
From ESPN Insider...
The hits keep coming for Baylor and Scott Drew. As the school attempts to sort out what did and did not happen with LaceDarius Dunn and his girlfriend, news has come down the pike that the NCAA is looking into possible impermissible texts (the new phrase that’s sweeping the college hoops nation) allegedly sent by a Baylor assistant to prospect Hanner Perea.
It’s worth noting that the Bears program has appeared to be squeaky-clean since Scott Drew arrived in town, and that this current round of problems is nothing compared to the Dave Bliss era. Nonetheless, it must be a bit troubling for fans of the program, who were just beginning to relish their status as an annual Big 12 contender.
Do Quincy and Deuce know about this, or would it even affect their decision(s)?

Even if your goal is to play one year and then go pro, potential probation should affect your decision.
TV and tournament appearances — two things that may very well affect draft stock (although with modern technology and scouting, less than they did in the past).
Someone needs to be reminding them of this little issue. That and the fact that we’re talking about BAYLOR. SMH.

with the baylor investigation
you would have to think they our ours.
wow
baylor has ONE good season and i guess thats good enough to get #1 power forwards
Bilal Powell for Heisman!
I have no idea
why any recruit would still consider a school that is currently under a close eye as far as recruiting goes? Not to mention the other happenings surrounding Baylor athletics. Quincy will convince Duece to come to UofL with him and we will have the #1 recruiting class in 2011, IMO
Agreed, but our class would have better depth and fewer one-and-dones.
Under those circumstances, I would rather have the #2 class. Better prospects for success over 2-3 years than the Cal approach.

Losing Wroten to UW? Understandable. Losing Teague to UK? Punch in the gut, but not shocking (particularly where Cal and his runners are doing whatever they do behind the scenes).
Losing QM to Baylor? I can’t bear (ahem) the thought of it.

class of 2011
This is a make or break class for Quick Rick. It would appear this year will not be a very good one and that follows last year which ended with a 10+ against the Cuse but wasn’t so great. And this year’s incoming class was hammered with no shows.
We need a great recruiting class for 2011. And they all need to honor their commitments and make grades. If we have the same problems with defections and/or eligibility problems we will have a three year dry spell. And that spells bottom 25% of the BE. The fans will be howling, especially those having to pay $5,000 a year in “donations.”
