I send out an e-mail to a few people every year about what this game means to us in Kentucky. Thought I would share this one on the CC this year.
Dream Game 2010
Here we are again. And Mike of the Card Chronicle has posted all the reasons why this rivalry is the best (yeah, better than whatever one is in your head right now) in the country. I think we have all verbalized many if not all of the points ourselves from time to time when debating others. And honestly this post is just the tip of the iceberg. I really think someone could write an anthropology PhD research thesis about this game.

Frank has an awesome write up of THE Dream Game and how we got there:

Of course, wiki has a decent primer entry:

But at the end of the day, the Cards and Cats have more in common in the Commonwealth than we have differences. All of us have relatives, friends, and even (I confess) married a Wildcat (or Cardinal). So in the true spirit of the game let's remember what happened on March 26th, 1983. Before tip, the cheerleaders for UofL and UK joined arms, both bands played in unison, while 12,000 Kentuckians (in Tennessee no less) sang loud and proud "My Old Kentucky Home". This still happens though after the game when most fans are filing out of the arena. Wish that would change.
Here's hoping for a good/respectful game...
Go Cards. Beat Cats.
