Damn

Watching Florida show the ball down Kentucky’s throat. I can only hope we play better tonight.

I am still predicting good things.

by JustCards on Sep 26, 2009 6:50 PM EDT reply actions

Florida is going to town.

But to be honest, the Cayuts are really helping. They’re playing tight and scared, making mistakes all over the place. These are mistakes they weren’t making the past few weeks. I mean, we’re 12.5 minutes into the game, and UK has, what, 6 or 7 penalties for like 60 yards?

by CARD_G6 on Sep 26, 2009 6:53 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah they are

Kinda fun to watch isn’t it. :)

by JustCards on Sep 26, 2009 6:54 PM EDT reply actions

It is fun to watch.....

…..but makes me afraid.

Although, with college football, especially this year, it is so hard to compare week to week and team to team with the transitive stuff. Lots of weird stuff in college football this year.

by CardsFan922 on Sep 26, 2009 7:00 PM EDT reply actions

Like Miami today.

I mean, 3 straight amazing weeks, and then whatever that crap today was.

by CARD_G6 on Sep 26, 2009 7:06 PM EDT up reply actions

So...

..I’m officially really looking forward to our game. Watching other games, checking the clock every 5 minutes. I even broke out the black #7 jersey, which is still awesome.

Prediction: UL 21-38 Utah.

Hope: UL 27 – 23 Utah.

by CardsFan922 on Sep 26, 2009 7:11 PM EDT reply actions

Holy crap UK...

What is that feeling I’m feeling?? Could it be that I am feeling a bit empathetic for the Cats? I’m at work and not able to watch either game…but looking at the score and the stats…my god…they are being completely dominated.

by paulw on Sep 26, 2009 7:12 PM EDT reply actions

As I said...

they’re mostly doing it to themselves. They’re playing scared, like they don’t really think they have a chance or even a right to win.

by CARD_G6 on Sep 26, 2009 7:20 PM EDT up reply actions

Case in point:

They just got their first first down of the game, with 8:21 left in the 2nd.

Also… 6 penalties.

by CARD_G6 on Sep 26, 2009 7:21 PM EDT up reply actions

If you were watching...

…you’d feel nothing but blood lust. It’s awesome. They are getting completely dominated. Just got their first stop and first first down – took them until the 2nd quarter.

by CardsFan922 on Sep 26, 2009 7:20 PM EDT up reply actions

Alllllright...almost kick-off...

…sucks going from ESPN HD to whatever this is….not fun. Makes it much harder to identify our players, who I had a somewhat difficult time identifying in the first place.

by CardsFan922 on Sep 26, 2009 7:29 PM EDT reply actions

We are their homecoming game?

I thought those were only against cupcakes or rivals

by cardscott5 on Sep 26, 2009 7:36 PM EDT reply actions

Is that a sack?

That’s our first of the season right?

Is it too early to get excited?

Hey

at least UK is getting a little dose of reality..

by twistedwedge on Sep 26, 2009 7:44 PM EDT reply actions

I have been very annoyed with these dudes about 10 times.

It would be a much better broadcast to bring back the college announcers from basketball season.

damnit....

one step slow…almost got the sack

we really are awful at stopping someone on 3rd down

Wow.

This took a nasty turn real fucking quick.

by CARD_G6 on Sep 26, 2009 7:58 PM EDT reply actions

Okay...

…soooo….still a lot of game left. That Trent Guy fumble was seriously the flukiest of fluke plays.

by CardsFan922 on Sep 26, 2009 7:59 PM EDT reply actions

Not the fumble itself...

…the guy saving it from going out of bounds. Guy’s confidence has to be shaken, you are right.

by CardsFan922 on Sep 26, 2009 8:01 PM EDT up reply actions

i'm sorry

but if the ball is out of bounds in mid-air, you should not be able to save it back in bounds.

this is not the and-1 tour.

good call steve

fake the same play that trent just fumbled on…real believeable

by davidson07 on Sep 26, 2009 8:03 PM EDT reply actions

Maybe an injury break there

When would have Asiata gotten hurt? on his run?

They said Burke was like Favre

And another play clock running down timeout

by cardscott5 on Sep 26, 2009 8:47 PM EDT reply actions

I wasn't looking at the screen,

the announcers said we had a problem getting plays in, so I assumed. My bad for listening to them

by cardscott5 on Sep 26, 2009 8:49 PM EDT up reply actions

That's not why the timeout was called.

We had the play ready to snap on time, but we need to make sure we get the first down here. I think Krag took the time to read the defense.

by CARD_G6 on Sep 26, 2009 8:49 PM EDT up reply actions

Same play...

…as before the time-out. At least pre-snap it looked like it.

Ute penalties

giving us a glimmer of hope…tiny as it is

by twistedwedge on Sep 26, 2009 8:53 PM EDT reply actions

we are doing everything...

not to stay in this game. did you see the offensive stat. blocked fg, int, fumble, punt, punt. geez dude its sick. and long fumbled. that should be four turnovers. thank you defense. seriously we are only down 17-0 with those offensive stats. the defense is doing a great job excluding the long pass play after the fumble. krag will fire em up for the 2nd. i think we will get back in this game

by Cambroni Cardinals on Sep 26, 2009 8:55 PM EDT reply actions

it definitely was

didn’t have that one on my broadcast bingo, have to admit

Talk about a guy who will never get his due.

by Mike Rutherford on Sep 26, 2009 9:01 PM EDT up reply actions

I could see him..

….wowing at the combine and being a first-day pick.

Or never being heard from again.

by CardsFan922 on Sep 26, 2009 9:02 PM EDT up reply actions

Even if he tears it up at the combine

I fear the combination of his relative anonymity and injury history will prevent any tam from taking a shot on him on the first day.

Hop I’m wrong.

if this doesn't work out

But have you seen anything in the first half to lead you to believe we have 3 unanswered touchdowns in us?

whoooo finally something good Chaz

by cardscott5 on Sep 26, 2009 9:33 PM EDT reply actions

Play action pass to Tronzo..

…..I would think that would have to be pretty low on the list of plays. Like, at the bottom, below the option pitch on 4th and 1.

by CardsFan922 on Sep 26, 2009 9:35 PM EDT reply actions

hmmm

more strong defense….were only 2 scores out..

by twistedwedge on Sep 26, 2009 9:38 PM EDT reply actions

6pts

and I guarantee it wasnt one of our eight plays

by twistedwedge on Sep 26, 2009 9:39 PM EDT up reply actions

I would argue..

..it is our most common play so far this year. Burke drops back, nothing is there, Burke scrambles. I’ve seen that run at least 4 times tonight.

by CardsFan922 on Sep 26, 2009 9:39 PM EDT up reply actions

that one actually tends to work out pretty well

8 plays?

Are you sure?

1) Run up the middle
2) Burke drops back, nothing there, scrambles
3) Screen to RB
4) 3-step drop, quick jump ball to Long
5) Play action rollout, Tronzo underneath, Beaumont one level up

7) Reverse
8) -????

his nickname could be t. cain, quite naturally

is it just me, or does he seem completely bored by this game?

by doctorofdunk on Sep 26, 2009 10:22 PM EDT reply actions

Did the announcers call out the coach for that decision?

If so, I missed it….. but I was thinking about the Perfect Brownie, so I might’ve.

Took Tulsa to 3 bowls in 4 years.

And yet took Orange Bowl champions to 0 in 3 years.

by CARD_G6 on Sep 26, 2009 10:22 PM EDT reply actions

that's what I don't get

seriously, with the absurdly stupid mistakes, I don’t see how he could win at the high school level much less any college program. He obviously couldn’t have been this bad…

by cmb on Sep 26, 2009 10:24 PM EDT up reply actions

I think Krag's plan here

was to hold them to a field goal so we’d be down 12 and not 13

so,

is it just me, or did I actually hear the beer guy in that dead stadium just a second ago

We care...

we just don’t know what to say. It’s all been said before.

Can't take it anymore

I created this account right now so I could vent. Fagthorpe is officially the worst coach in the world. Thats right the WORLD. I can’t believe I am so mad at a college football game but I am. How do u not go for 2. He doesn’t give these kids a chance to win at all. JURICH FIX THIS!!!!!! Sorry for the length of the post. U do a good job Mike.

by Jerry H on Sep 26, 2009 10:29 PM EDT reply actions

To be honest...

I was part of the “Give Krags a chance” after the close loss last week.

After that not going for the 2, I’m with you all. F this guy.

As far as I’m concerned, his job is wide-smokin-open.

same play 5 times that drive

and out of a timeout we dont know how to stop it

by Cambroni Cardinals on Sep 26, 2009 10:32 PM EDT reply actions

Ashley....

..back there with him. Doug almost broke that. Wow.

by CardsFan922 on Sep 26, 2009 10:32 PM EDT reply actions

definitely punt

since our defense has stopped those jailbreaks so well

by doctorofdunk on Sep 26, 2009 10:34 PM EDT reply actions

the utah offense with those jailbreaks

is like when i used to play against a drunk guy in madden online. just run it to either side til the defense figures it out, if they ever do.

normally comparing video games and real football is silly, but not here.

by doctorofdunk on Sep 26, 2009 10:36 PM EDT reply actions

What a sad night.

Drunk alone at home talking to guys on Card Chronicle while watching us get manhandled by a mediocre MWC team.

They’re not even first in the MWC power rankings for fuck’s sake.

by CARD_G6 on Sep 26, 2009 10:40 PM EDT reply actions

so wait

if they were, all would be well?

by doctorofdunk on Sep 26, 2009 10:40 PM EDT up reply actions

No.

It just makes it that much worse.

At least if they were like Boise State, you could say “Yeah, well at least it was Boise State.”

This is just like “Yeah, you pretty much suck.”

by CARD_G6 on Sep 26, 2009 10:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Faircatch McGee back there

Did Trent Guy get pulled for letting that first punt bounce? I need to know this

by cardscott5 on Sep 26, 2009 10:41 PM EDT reply actions

one more comment

I really feel like Kragthorpe killed all momentum by settling for the xtra point and defense played uninspired.

by Jerry H on Sep 26, 2009 10:42 PM EDT reply actions

Agreed.

We need to get rid of this guy ASAP.

I firmly believe that a better coach with this talent would get 8 wins.

by CARD_G6 on Sep 26, 2009 10:43 PM EDT up reply actions

Rumor has it that if he lost UK and Utah then they firing him mid season

I really doubt this, but my source also knew about the Pitino stuff before it broke.

I feel really bad for JB.

The kid deserves better. They all deserve better, and it’s so hard to watch.

BTW, in case you hadn’t noticed, beer makes me refer to everyone by their initials.

I really like him and this isn’t his fault.

What a metahpor for this game.

I was a Uof l fan when we were the Homecoming team of choice for elite programs...

I enoyed the uphill struggle to make it to the top 10. I hate the downward spiral of a bad coaching decision. It now seems that the athletic program has come to accept that it’s OK to be mediocre. I don’t have the will to fight TJ over this. I will not be joining you for anymore U of L football games. This season has lost it’s luster for me.

by JustCards on Sep 26, 2009 10:45 PM EDT reply actions

amen

I hate to have to say this, but showing up at home games will be seen by TJ as “we’re ok with where this program is going”. So, I will no longer be attending home games.

Go Cards!

he ruins people’s lives.

Yeah, I’m drunk and quoting Mean Girls…this is where we are.

Glad I am in Japan and at work!

At least I was entertained by the comments left from you guys. Wish it could have been better. Oh yeah and screw you Krapthorpe!

I wish I was in Japan.

Course, I’m drunk, so I could really go for anything right now.

But Japan sounds tight.

Only Crappy thing is

we are +13 hours ahead of EST, so sometimes I work during the games. I would be able to watch it on TV if it wasn’t for jackasses screwing it up for everyone in my section.

For what it's worth, and that's not much,

I had last night’s game TIVOed and watched following a dinner engagment. Watched it speeded up and was still amazed at how slow Bilal Powell seems to be this year.

Really and truly one of the most dull, uninspired, insipid football games I’ve been subjected to in ages. Utah won, but isn’t very good I don’t think. U of L showed up to play in those insipid jerseys with the circle on the sleeves that makes everybody look sloop-shouldered. And that’s the best thing I can say about their performance.

And Kragthorpe? Don’t get me started…
