The Pipe Rules!!!

Go Cards!!! Let’s see what happens!!

…yeah, that’s about all I can muster right now…

Mission Accomplished!

As I watch Gameday and there is no mention at all of our game today, I am reminded of Barnhart’s decision to move this from the first week and to turn down this game as the Monday night of Labor Day weekend game (now firmly occupied by Miami-FSU) and I am thankful…..in the short term.

If the goal was to hide this game from the national consciousness, well, nicely done sir! I can understand when you are getting beat 59-28 and 31-0, etc.

I guess all that matters is in-state recruiting, but getting the best players from Kentucky every year is not enough to make a dent in the Big East or SEC. You need to get Florida, Texas, PA, OH players.

Hopefully Barnhart has that same short-sighted view and gets this game back in a national time-slot while we are still down. Perfect game for our new coach to introduce himself to the country and get some “Louisville is back!” press in 2010?

I'll be delusional for a minute with CardsFan, since the game has not begun,

IF
we can make Blue eat it in front of a packed-to-overflowing stadium of rednecks
foaming at the mouth for this most awaited and hoped for
total annihilation
of their hated, HATED arch rival

Then, by god, it WOULD be a game that fans would talk about for yrs.

OK…I’m done…

Gonna be along day...

by JustCards on Sep 19, 2009 12:07 PM EDT reply actions

Too easy...

by CardsFan922 on Sep 19, 2009 12:07 PM EDT reply actions

Wow

I could run the ball if they keep blocking like that

by mabake02 on Sep 19, 2009 12:08 PM EDT reply actions

A nice stop!

Allen tripped over his own feet. Almost got a penalty on it too. I like the intensity.

by CardsFan922 on Sep 19, 2009 12:09 PM EDT reply actions

After the way that started....

…. I’m okay with the field goal. Now let’s move the ball!

by mabake02 on Sep 19, 2009 12:10 PM EDT reply actions

Well..

….after the way that drive went, holding them to 3 is not bad. If it wasn’t for Allen tripping…..its okay, as Frankpos pointed out we’re not a first quarter team.

This game so far has shown, I think,

that we have athletes similar to Kentucky’s — with a couple of exceptions, of course, such as QB. But my point is, we ought to be right there with these guys…there’s not as much difference as I thought. And yet with the coaching staff we have, I don’t feel much of a chance at all to win this game. It’s kind of sad, really.

I can't believe...

…we haven’t seen a play action bomb to a wide open Chris Matthews yet. Although they are moving the ball well enough on the ground, I guess we’ll see that in the third quarter.

by CardsFan922 on Sep 19, 2009 1:26 PM EDT reply actions

I would like to point everyone to the predictions thread.

I predicted a somewhat respectable 17-7 halftime score where UK goes on to win it 31-10. I also said that Vic would get our lone touchdown early and Darius Ashley would mysteriously not see the field again.

You can all see me for palm readings after the game.

by CARD_G6 on Sep 19, 2009 1:31 PM EDT reply actions

Two fifteen yard penalties (one questionable) and bad clock officiating are the only reasons we are still in this. Should have gone for 3 when 4th/short in the red zone. Would have two scores and down just a TD. That is was the change in momentum…

There must have been something wrong with the clock.

Sure the operator wasn’t that confused. It said 15:15 before the last play, so obviously the electron gods, who are Cardinals at heart, ran interference for us here. I thought we’d be lucky to score but we did sustain a drive, so I’m already wrong about this game.

But the option call just reinforced every negative thought I’ve had about Mr. Jurich’s best friend. He’s an abomination.

I'm going to go cry now.

And worst of all, Kragthorpe probably justified staying another year today in Jurich’s eyes.

That's taking quite the leap

because Kentucky sucks. We have at least 3 more losses coming, he’s not safe

No timeouts left.

Awesome.

I thought Burke was supposed to be smart?

Delay of game.

That pretty much sums up the Kragthorpe era.

well

they didn’t turn the ball over in crunch time and they scored when it mattered. Feel like Louisville was slightly the better team today but UK won the Cup and that’s a whole year’s worth of pride and bragging rights.

Kids played their hearts out.

That sucked. Krag 10000% lost that game, I don’t care about Trent fumbling.

uhhh, the royal fuckup early did it man...

short side option on 4th an 1 that was all krags

by twistedwedge on Sep 19, 2009 3:23 PM EDT up reply actions

eh

could have been much worse…they at least gave us a chance at the end with that impressive stand..

by twistedwedge on Sep 19, 2009 3:26 PM EDT up reply actions

agree that Trent's play was a gamebreaker

but the playcalling, time and timeout management could’ve been a lot better. UK gifted this one to us the entire 2nd half.

by UL is my hot hot sex on Sep 19, 2009 3:24 PM EDT up reply actions

not necessarily Trent

I mean, had we scored on the turnovers then it wouldn’t have mattered. Too many ifs.

by speedcard on Sep 19, 2009 3:26 PM EDT up reply actions

Knee-jerk

Ya, Krag made some nice play calls for sure. And the turnovers aren’t directly his fault. But we did not score touchdowns in the 3rd quarter and that cost us the game. And we did not score on that 4th and 1 – the option call is indefensible.

And why does powell get 2 straight carries to the right side on that critical drive?

He’s the Koach, its on him. That’s how it works.

by CardsFan922 on Sep 19, 2009 3:28 PM EDT up reply actions

I feel so fucking bad for the kid

It’s not their fault. We have got to get rid of this guy.

I love our players

great effort, keep your head up trent

by UL is my hot hot sex on Sep 19, 2009 3:22 PM EDT reply actions

Yeah, turnovers late in game killed us and burning three time outs early didn’t help either. Players played valiantly till the end. They are a great group, but still need to good leadership to cut down on penalties, bad play calls, and communication. GO CARDS!

man....

not looking forward to hanging out with a bunch of kensucky fans later AT ALL…

by twistedwedge on Sep 19, 2009 3:27 PM EDT reply actions

Love Trent, love Anderson, love Beamont, starting to love Burke, etc. They played all out and I was scared in the first they might rollover.

by kentuckybred on Sep 19, 2009 3:28 PM EDT reply actions

Our defense sucks a whole lot

346 yards. 168 yards rushing, 5.1 a pop. Uk had the ball for 27 minutes despite running 4 plays the 3rd quarter. 6-11 on 3rd down. Hartline was 20-28. It’s going to be a long season

by cardscott5 on Sep 19, 2009 3:28 PM EDT reply actions

Yeah, the mediocre UK offense rolled all day long. Turnovers kept some things in check thank goodness

by kentuckybred on Sep 19, 2009 3:29 PM EDT up reply actions

ah well, it was fun guys...

at least it was interesting? take care…GO CARDS

I love this rivalry game!

Kentucky v. Louisville always brings out the best football in each team. Little penalties. Forced but few turnovers. Excellent play calling and play execution.

In other words… BARF!

Look here: Your Cards played like winners today. No question about it. A mighty tip of my Fake Cap to them. Its just unfortunate that misfortune infected your side of the ball almost as much as our side.

by TheFakeGimelMartinez on Sep 19, 2009 3:33 PM EDT reply actions

well said

UK tried to give UL the game in the 3rd quarter but we obliged and gave it back to you after showing a lot of grit and heart in the 2nd half. See you in January.

by UL is my hot hot sex on Sep 19, 2009 3:40 PM EDT up reply actions

good thing about the game

we have an identity again with Burke at QB. No offense to Vic but we didn’t have a team mentality last year b/c we didn’t have a clear leader on the field. If Burke improves on his mistakes he could be a fun player to watch in red and white.
