My 9/11 Soapbox

I am sure you all know somebody who was affected by the tragedies surrounding 9/11/01 and the days following.  This day has not only changed some people's immediate lives, either through the death of a family member or friend, but has also in turn made everyone's lives a little safer by enacting policies and procedures governing just about every organization you can think of.  Perhaps the persons most affected by 9/11 are the members of our military and emergency response organizations.  Many have given the ultimate sacrifice in their dedication to this country and to the safety and welfare of its people.  As a volunteer firefighter, I see first-hand that every one of them is underpaid and underappreciated for their hard work and personal sacrifice in the line of fire. So if you see a member of the military, police, firefighter, EMT, etc., please let them know they are appreciated because your life and the ones you love depend on them.

amen to that

Heroes man…PD/FD everywhere-they are truly the heroes. I remember back when the wife and I went to NYC earlier this year and I saw all the officials there and couldnt help but be “star struck” by them. Meeting a NYPD/FD/port authority official etc meant more to me than any celebrity Ive ever met. Utmost respect.

God bless everyone affected by 9/11 whether it be families of those lost, the victims themselves or the heroes who died trying to save others.

Hard to believe its been eight years now-and it still affects me deeply. Still tough for me to go through september 11th anymore without a heavy heart. Ill never forget.
