You won't have to leave your house to watch the U of L/UK game

Which is huge news because everywhere else is scary.

Take it away, Jason Keller.

Mike -

I wanted to let your readers at Card Chronicle know that Insight has arranged with ESPN to make the UK/UofL game on September 19 available to all of our customers in Louisville and Lexington, regardless of whether or not their current programming package includes ESPNU.

After learning several weeks ago that the game was scheduled to air on ESPNU, we initiated discussions with ESPN and Disney to request an exception for this game and we’re very appreciative that they have provided it. Unlike other communications providers, Insight is the home team here in Kentucky and we understand the importance of the Governor’s Cup rivalry.  It’s also part of our commitment to provide the best sports programming around.

In Louisville, analog customers will see the game on channel 11 and digital customers will see the game on channels 514 (standard definition) and 922 (high definition). In Lexington, analog customers will see the game on channel 6 and digital customers will see the game on channels 514 (standard definition) and 922 (high definition).

As we move forward into football and basketball seasons, it is unlikely that we will be able to work out this arrangement for future games. That’s why we would encourage UofL fans to add the 50-channel Digital Standard package for just $10 per month. That will ensure they don’t miss any of the Cards on ESPNU.

More details should be available later this morning at Insight CEO Michael Willner’s blog, www.MichaelsInsight.com.

Well I'm pumped.

We're going to party, karamu, fiesta, forever...or until we're down by 17 at half.

UofL sports in HD?

Say it ain’t so, say it ain’t so.

Of course, I have ESPNU HD already, but congrats to the rest of you interested in the game but not interested in seeing us get manhandled in person. Of course, after the Rutgers game last year, seeing us get manhandled from the couch in HD isn’t much better.

I already have ESPNU, but good work to Insight and ESPN anyway.

However, if Keller really wants to impress me, he can convince ESPN to not use their Z team analysts and sideline reporters like most ESPNU games.

wow

I will actually be happy to pay my next cable bill. Of course I may not be so happy watching the game.

Believe me..

Besides the lack of on demand content, Insight is actually quite a good telco. After dealing with Comcast for so long, Insight was a relative blessing.
