I do not expect Rick Pitino to resign or temporarily step aside at his 3 p.m. press conference today.

I wouldn't worry about it
If he didn’t quit right after this hit the fan, he’s not going to quit now.
First time I shot her, shot her in the side.
Hard to watch her suffer, but with the second shot she died...
Probably going to start talking about this case, and rebuttle what Sypher had said in the recordings…Layin it down.
There was nothing new in the Sypher stuff

No
And he and Steve Pence have both said they won’t until the trial.

Not saying this isn't what it will be about
Just saying I’d be surprised.

Also...
..watch the counter at the bottom next to the LIVE icon for the number of viewers. It is at 1823 right now.
Says he wasn't going to say anything until trial....
…but wants to say something because of the nature of the allegations.
Not leaving
Ripping the media for covering Sypher tapes on the day Ted Kennedy died.

Why
I thought he apologized to the media last time, and now he is angry? seems like a step in getting over something….step 4 depression…..step 5 anger
No idea why that just happened
The story is dying down so you hold a press conference to tell people to stop paying attention it?
Interesting?

Maybe a fear....
…the national media would play the tapes and that would be the story?
They’ll be playing that press conference again. It was no “Larry Bird ain’t walking through that door” but it was pretty unusual and not normally how press conferences like that go.
i'm speechless
that was an ill-advised move when this mess was about to blow over.
welcome back to the headlines, rick.
I disagree with you folks
1) “It’s all a lie” – damn right
2) “It hasn’t hurt recruiting one bit” – good
3) “We’ve been a ‘top ten’ program the last two years” – and that will continue
Some things require a response – and he responded. Stations have been ‘breaking in’ today with the tapes of her police interviews. That is not breaking news, and that was his point.
I’m with Coach.
How so?
His career, his reputation and his life that he has built are on the line because he had sex with a person bent on destroying him.
It’s time to stand up and be heard.
you're telling me kenny klein and dr. ramsey were pleased with that mess?
with all due respect, you’re crazy to think that.

agreed mike
the strangest part to me was saying that the university had told him to keep quiet, but that he felt it was time to speak WITH THE UNIVERSITY WALLPAPER behind him. the tone was way off from what it should have been. it’s time to move on and support him, but whoever said he needs to shut his mouth is 100 pct correct.
Seldom is the reaction good , when you chastise the media
and tell them not ot report things.
He didn’t like the press today—SHEESH, tomorrow he will be grilled nationally in the news, I’m afraid
What I don't understand
The media in Louisville knew about these allegations months ago but chose not to report them because they didn’t think they were credible. What has changed since then to make them credible? I don’t blame Rick for getting a little more aggressive.
All I can say is...
…for a man so calculated, and who holds a high regard on his words and carefully places his statements, that was one of the most poorly called press conferences I have seen. There was no reason for him to do that. It brings more attention to the situation. Louisville and national media will have a field day with what we just saw.
Oh well, at least we have football season…Wait, can The Krag have something like this occur so we can rightfully run him out of town? Start gameplanning!

I don't think I understood one part
Didn’t he say that he was standing up for “a long laundry list of people who passed away today?” What does that mean?
I understand the frustration for him
Fox 41 had that tape for awhile and then only decided to air it after the news broke. Prior to that they thought she was flat out looney and that they’d never get away with airing it. It’s also frustraiting to watch the commercials for that’s nights reel and the anchor says something like "You’ll never believe what new allegations there are.’ It’s all been a little much, especially now that it’s fairly obvious she’ll say anything she can to be on camera now.
With all that being said, there had to be a better way to do this.
The fact that there are again national reports is the problem
Pitino just took what is a continuing local story and made it a national one again. Perhaps the tapes would have been given attention by ESPN and SI anyway, but Pitino guaranteed it with this mindless rant. Ted Kennedy?
Kenny Klein must be beside himself right not. Coach, there was a reason the university asked you to keep quiet. Anger doesn’t help; blaming the media doesn’t help. They kept quiet for a long, long time about this story — a story, by the way, in which there appears to be no good guys.

Right now
That’s what I meant to type. Darn old man fingers.
