Sun Bowl Drops Big East for ACC's Sloppy...Fifths
What was slated to be the optimal destination for the Big East's 3rd best team, the Sun Bowl announced yesterday that they will not renew their partnership with the Big East Conference after this season. Replacing the Big East No. 3 team will be the ACC's No. 5 Team in the new Sun Bowl contract. Embarassing. Starting in 2010, the Big East No. 3 will travel to the Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte, NC on 26 December to face the ACC's No. 6 team. Hey, at least it's a BCS Conference and not the MAC...
Brian Bennett has more here, including the epic quote below from the Sun Bowl bowl committee folks reppin' El Paso, TX.
"At the end of the day it was based on what overall we thought is best for the people of El Paso," bowl committee chairman John Folmer told the paper. "We haven't seen the ACC in so long, we think it will be good."
When the people of El Paso--the ones that live, work and play Connect 4 within eyesight of the 3rd world city of Juarez, Mexico--don't respect you, it's time to look in the mirror and repeat after me: "I see pride! I see power! I see a bad-ass mother who don't take no crap off of nobody!" ...now let's get out of this bathroom and find some East Germans to punch.

Fuck it.
I officially don’t care anymore. The next time we even make it to a bowl, it’ll probably be in Canada or the newly formed www.jonesbigasstruckrentalandstorage.com bowl designed to bring the thrill of college football to the lovely people of Paris, France.
It could be (somewhat) reasonably argued that K is killing the Big East
Louisville was supposed to be the key marquee addition…but it’s dragging the conference down now…
Rodriguez leaving hurt too
It’s left us with a conference with no really great coachesm, which has quickly translated to a conference with no great teams. I’m not sold on Kelly or the ass hat in Connecticut.
Pitt...
Pitt’s dreadful performace last year in that game may have something to do with it.

Am I the only one glad
we are no longer in the Sun Bowl? Basically, we’ve stopped splitting our second place bowl destination with El Paso, and Jacksonville, and the Big 12 conference, and the number two plays in the Champs Sports Bowl every year. So, every other year in Jacksonville, or EVERY year in Orlando? Because NO ONE would travel to El Paso. I know I wouldn’t. I don’t undertand the whining. And the #3 stays status quo to Charlotte.
Big question is who we will play in Orlando. If it’s any less than a 4th place team, then that will be bad.
