If Froman starts

And throws a TAINT on the first play of the season, I am going to be extremely freaked out.

by Mike Rutherford on Aug 10, 2009 10:25 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Technically...

…the TAINTs didn’t start until Game 2 in the simulation.

As much as people like to worry, ISU is TERRIBLE and we should dominate. Even as bad a season as I expect us to have, we will not lose or even come close to losing this game.

I say Stoudt

He has the highest ceiling and what appears to be the best arm, size, and overall ability. Yet, he WON’T start because he is….um…..young? I guess? I understand the logic behind Kragthorpe’s thinking, I guess. He may be the best and have the most time left to improve, but hey, we already gave two schollies to a JUCO transfer and an ACC transfer, and we don’t want to be wasteful.

Seriously, though, assuming it’s A.FROMAN or Burke, I’ll give them a shot, as both have potential. Though if we begin to lose several games (i.e. WHEN we begin to lose several games), I wouldn’t be surprised to see Stoudt get his shot.

too young?

I remember one year when Denny Crum ended up with a three way tie for his starting point guard. He had a soph, a junior and a senior and figured since they were all even the soph had the most upside in terms of years of improvement. So he started Jerry Eaves. As I remember the 1979-80 season turned out right OK. Of course the big difference is Denny knew he would be back the next year. Koach Kevorkian isn’t so sure.

I said Froman

I think he will be running for his life alot this year, and he is KRAG’s guy. Stoudt can start next year for the new coach, we don’t want to wreck his confidence.

Although, I imagine KRAG will run all three in and out before it is all said and done. Unless Froman really can be a good mobile QB.

Because the Xbox Commands It

Again, Froman because I ran a 41 yard option for a TD last night in NCAA 10 online against some dork playing as IU. (one of the few teams as bad or worse than the cards in that game)

Stoudt

has my vote too. He was the only one at both the open practices last week to consistently connect on deeper throws (although Froman did show some promise in this area on Friday). My hunch is that Krags will go with Froman…which I can support since he appears to be a great leader and can make plays with his legs…but just from what I saw at the 2 open practices…there’s no reason why Burke should be ahead of Stoudt, we should be getting that kid all the reps with the first team he can get.

I was there...

Friday night and was also most impressed with Stoudt. He would be my choice, based upon the limited amount that I’ve seen. He’s got a strong and accurate arm. After that, I was most impressed with Froman. And I’ll also say that I saw Will Stein throw some nice balls.

I voted for Stoudt

Just because I think it’s the best move for the future of the program. That said, I think it’s almost a foregone conclusion that Froman is going to be the guy.

I only hope that if he falters and the season starts to slip away, we go with the freshman and not the other junior.

Where’s Matt Simms on this list?

Actually, I voted for Stoudt as well for the same reasons as Mike, but I have to concede that I really have nothing to go on other than message board rumors about the abilities of these guys. If Froman can be elusive, it makes sense to start him because I have bad feelings about our OL, but there should be opportunities to play everybody this year one way or the other.

I hope you're joking.

Cause Simms moved on from UofL long ago. Like right after last season ended.

But Seriously

Does anyone know where he transfered to? Just curious.

by canaan on Aug 11, 2009 11:10 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I googled it and it says

El Camino Community College in Torrance, Calif.

I voted for Froman

because of the 8-4 simulation. Someone should put Froman’s face on a picture of Afroman. Because he got high……on team spirit

by cardscott5 on Aug 10, 2009 6:32 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

QB that can move

Because of our limited talent level on the OL……we need a QB who can move. Remember Stefan? He was what put us back on the map, he was a madman scrambler. Out of a bunch of QB’s who will more than likely suck, which one can move the best? That will be our only hope to salvage the season. If we have another Hunter cant"move"well…..I’m gonna puke right now.

Tyler Wolfe.

NCAA 10 commands me. Due to the Cards’ stellar 12-1 season and beating VT in the Sugar Bowl (finishing the season ranked #2 I might add) under my superb coaching, Tyler Wolfe earned himself a preseason 1st team All-Big East spot for the 2011 season. Nuff said.

In all seriousness, I would rather see Stoudt at the start, but it’ll be Froman, so I clicked it. I’d rather be right than righteous I guess.

But I wasn’t joking about the NCAA 10 stuff. That’s seriously how my 2010 dynasty worked out.

by CARD_G6 on Aug 11, 2009 2:16 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

he tranferred, Simms left...

but NCAA 10 has Tyler on the roster, and he just went for 345yds and 8 tds against Ark St… a new school record…

NCAA 10

Did you play all the games cause i just simulated the season curious to see where they would go and they finished 5-7 like last season. And tyler wolfe was the qb.

i'm playing the season

and if wasn’t for Vic, I’d be up shit creek. Defense is leaving a shade to be desired, too…

by CardChakra on Aug 11, 2009 10:12 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yes, I played the games out.

No way the season would have been anywhere near as good without playing myself, because even on All-American difficulty (not Heisman), several games were squeakers with one in particular involving me making a 40-something yard pass to Nochta with time expiring to win. I went with a very slow, run-oriented game that worked well and chewed up clock, putting less pressure on my defense. The side effect was that when I did pass, I was able to get intermediate-range passes to pick up first downs. That’s why I was something like 115th out of 120 in passing offense for the season, but Wolfe’s QB rating was like 3rd in the nation. I also didn’t have to punt very much, and about broke even on turnovers.

On defense, I actually ended up with the #1 defense in the nation at the end of the season, but that was due to my ridiculous run stop (which I don’t know where it came from). I was like 300 yards ahead of second place in rush yards allowed with something like 250 allowed all season. My pass defense was absolutely atrocious at times, though, which linebackers and safeties being out of position in zone coverage and DBs having problems keeping up in man coverage. It was also difficult to put pressure on the opposing QB against teams with good or even decent O lines.

So all in all, it was a lot of efficiency, clock-grinding, and pure dumb luck/skill that got me to that point. No doubt in my mind that had I simmed everything or played on Heisman difficulty, I would have lost several more games. In fact, in my RTG season as a 5 star QB recruit, I finished 8-5 barely squeaking through the International bowl, and losing quite a few bad games (like Arkansas state, no joke).

K

Kragthorpe have any eligibility left? Like he says, it’s all on him.

by cbcard on Aug 11, 2009 2:18 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

True fan

I know that the cards have been off the map since kragthorpe came around sending the program back to the cooper era….But all honesty I could never turn my back on the cards football program as i am a true fan for the cards I honestly can say that i still cheered the cards on when they sucked and lost to everybody in c-usa. However, I do agree that krapthorpe needs to get out of this program for he has turned it to crap even if he does have a ok season still get out, we had opponents shaking in there cleats every home game puttin up 50-60pts a game. We lost our national recognition because of this guy and recruits all i really have to say is bring in tubberville from auburn hes one hell of a coach and produced two NFL prime time tailbacks nationally known for his defensive schemes do i need more to say. This guy ruined brohms senior season and Cantwells which ruined there lottery numbers for the draft…..
