How bad is Indiana State?
Real bad. Michael Jackson bad. The ending of He Got Game bad.
The Sycs haven't tasted victory since October of 2006 and have compiled an almost impressively futile record of 1-44 over the past four seasons.
Here's a thorough look at the carnage.

For those of you who can't look at a giant list of numbers and instantly do the math in your head (poor bastards), ISU has been outscored by a combined 56,431 to negative 17 over its past 45 football contests. I know. It's unreal.
If Louisville loses this game, not only should Steve Kragthorpe be fired before the midfield handshake, but at his postgame press conference the members of the media should be replaced by the 30 most intoxicated Louisville fans remaining at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

Bad sign...
…I actually had a dream the other night that this game came down to a field goal kick at the end.
I think that speaks more about me than about our chances in this game.
This game is...
Wide-smokin’ open. They can’t take any game for granted. I’ll run the simulation on NCAA ’10 and see what we get. By the way, do you know how I know that the PS3 version is not realistic: I kicked a 54 yard FG with our kicker yesterday. Zing!

After reading that
I returned the copy I just bought. I wanted the Crabtree cover and that was only on 360. I feel mildly ripped off
Good Lord
If they score a touchdown he ought to be fired.

they have only been shut out once
but they also havent given up fewer than 19 points. So I’m looking more and how much we score rather than how much they score. Really, at this point wins will be nice no matter who they come against.

Actually, they were shut out thrice last season.
And the other 6 games where they failed to get into double digits isn’t terribly impressive either. I am sure that at least one of the Illinois directional schools is a real defensive powerhouse, but they talleyed a total of 19 points against Northern, Eastern, Southern, Western, and State.
Seriously, them scoring on anything other than a broken play is bad, bad news.
SoHow Bad is UofL?
Here’s how bad.
A. We have to schedule a team like Indiana State.
B. In two years we have gone from a regular Top 25 (ok, perhaps top 35) to this. We are ranked # 73 in The Sporting News preseason rankings. That’s behind Western Michigan, Central Michigan, and Bowling Green of the MAC, Troy of the Sunbelt, La. Tech of the WAC, and ECU, Tulsa, Houston, So. Miss, and Rice of C-USA. Let’s add a little more fuel to the fire. This means if we were still in C-USA we would be ranked 6th!!!!!!!!!! You can blame this on “the mess Petrino left behind” or on Kragthorpe. But let me point out in these two years Tulsa has been moving up while UofL has been a fixture in the postseason bowl known as the Toilet Bowl. What do you think?
well it's obvious
Everything will be fine b/c this is his 3rd year. Everyone knows how good of a coach Kragthorpe was supposed to be coming into Louisville. I think as long or short term investors in Louisville FB stock, we should calmly acknowledge the facts. Rutgers last season was a fluke. Petrino ran a “messy” BCS caliber team that consistently overachieved every single year Petrino was a coach. Poor recruiting will turn around. Brohms can’t coach (duh!). And c’mon guys, Brian Brohm and Michael Bush are walking through that door…eventually. Right?
Jurich has to say this isn’t a do or die season for Kragthorpe but make no mistake, if Louisville quits a game like last year’s finale, Kragthorpe is done. I’m not a booster but as a loyal fan, I think we’re entitled to some semblance of a sanity check after the end of the season. Is Coach Kragthorpe set up to fail? If the answer is [still] yes in December, then he is who we thought he was, and we cannot let him off the hook.

It's not obvious
Sorry, but I don’t buy all the issues, all the garbage left behind crap that happened when Petrino left. While he was here he ran a tight ship, or it appeared to be one. Krags is an inept coach, poor decision maker, and poor organizer. The multiple 12 men on the field calls last year still sit in my head. The goig for on 4th 5 five from the 20, but attempting a 43 yard field goal in the same game? I mean the team quit, it quit on him against Rutgers, and Rutgers wasn’t very good. Steve Kragthorpe is a mistake, Jurich’s first, but it was bound to happen. I am scared sihtless that UofL goes like 5-7 again and Kragsucks keeps his job. Lets pray if UofL doesn’t make it to a bowl game that Krag is told enough is enough.

One word about Louisville football...
Sigh.

How bad do i want us to be?
I do hope we pound them soundly. However, as a cards fan, all we can root for is the ideal season where our recruits look good, we show slight improvment, but Krags still gets fired. Ill never be convinced that he can take a program any higher than above average, so I’m conflicted for this season like I’m sure most are. I’m anxious for it to get started as usual, but I think one more year w no improvement and no change and ill be back to 1993.

INDIANA STATE
WHY DO THEY CONTINUE A “FOOTBALL PROGRAM”? I WOULD IMAGINE THE LEGISLATURE WITHDRAWING SUPPORT. MAYBE KRAGTHORP WILL TAKE OVER THEIR TEAM…..ONE CAN ONLY HOPE.

I Miss Games Like These
This is the game I could have legitimately stood on my red seat and yelled – “go for 2” when we were up 58 points. I could have pleaded for onside kicks up 70 to try to get to 80.
Now, we are actually talking about their defense holding teams down? Would that have mattered with Petrino? Hell no. I dont care what you say but in the Petrino regime, we won these games with alarming scores that made people claim we ran scores up. Now we hope others dont do it to us.
I hate that and I know who’s fault it is – and it isnt Petrino’s.
He Hate UK
Can't believe K
I remember the Utah game K’s first year. Utah lined up for a FG but it was a fake and we in the stands saw a player split wide. The pass was complete and we were toast. K. said later that a specific unnamed player was responsible for counting the Utah players and should have seen the fake coming. He added that the coaches saw it and that he was yelling at the player(s) to call timeout.
We were watching K. He did not yell anything! He was standing on the sideline with no affect, arms folded across his chest. And there was an official five feet from him. He could have called time himself. The only conclusion I can reach is that he and his coaches were also fooled and he then tried to shift all of the blame on a player. I already had questions about his coaching ability. That was the moment I had questions about his manhood. It’s easy to say “It’s all on me.” Especially when he tries to weasel out of it.
It scares me...
that I even have the thought that we could lose this game. Will it most likely happen? No, but the same could have been said about a handful of game over the past two seasons. During the Bobby P. era I would be wondering how close to triple digits we would come to.
I’m just confused right now. While I don’t want this season to be a flop (mainly due to the fact that none of our players deserve that), I really hope we get some coaching talent next year. I’d give anything to even have a top 40 (I’m not greedy) team consistently and some teams every few years that makes a run at the BCS. I’m just going to head into this season and enjoy the stars we have and the new names that will rise up over the course of the season.
Remember you have to have the bad with the go…..ah hell who am I kidding.
Go Cards!

I'd also like to add
that official Scores Against vs Scores For (for the seasons posted above) is:

I was wrong
I previously listed many non-BCS schools from conferences besides the darned good Mountain West that The Sporting News ranked above us and made an error. No I didn’t put someone extra in front of us. I missed Nevada at # 37. We are now picked 2nd in the Sunbelt, 3rd in the WAC, 4th in the MAC, and 6th in C-USA. When does basketball start?
