Around SBN: Dissecting Nick Diaz's Positive Drug Test

This makes me sad.

Tight end Matt Sherry from Villanova, receiver Mario Urrutia from Louisville, quarterback Billy Farris from Colorado State and long snapper James Smith from Florida were waived.

Sherry was a sixth-round pick last year and spent the entire season on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. Urrutia was a seventh-round pick last year and spent the season on the practice squad. Farris and Smith were signed as free agents after the April draft.

i don't know which would've been worse

watching him play for the poopkoop or leaving too early. the way koop destroyed brohm’s draft stock, it’s probably a good thing he left.

Urrutia did play for Kragthorpe the first year. He was only one year behind Brohm.

To be honest, Urrutia was a major head-case his junior season, and the Bengals suck. I really couldn’t be less upset about this news. If Urrutia goes to another squad and has a good career, I’ll be happy for him, but I’ll never agree with his decision to leave early and the way he did. Still, there’s no way I would ever root for him as a Bengal, either.

Surprising?

I dont see how this should be surprising. Urrutia was up and down at UL and it was probably due to effort. The NFL eats players like him for breakfast.
