Where is everyone?

Well - glad to see the women getting so much attention! :-(

Almost end of first half. OU killing us — the Paris twins getting rebounds, they’ve got Angel shut down, and they’re getting points in transition.

BUT — it’s only 8 points. If we come out and play our game in the second half, I still think we can beat this team.

Don’t know why the strikethrough.

I agree

C. Paris is as winded as Chris Farley was in that figure skating sketch with Nancy Kerrigan. She’ll keep slowing down if we keep ’em running.

Running and defense

Yep — if we keep running, she’ll be tired. But I don’t think Ashley is going to get tired.

Our defense needs to pick up.

OU does a better job of finding the open woman on the floor. Good passing, good spacing. Plus, they hit their shots.

by Bruce in Louisville on Apr 5, 2009 7:49 PM EDT reply actions

I think the....

….“they hit their shots” is the key. What was with that airball lay-up by Bingham (at least I think it was her?)

Rebounds

They’re getting most of them.

Impressed with this Whitney Hand girl

Plus she’s pretty cute.

Well, 12 pts isn't the end of the world....

….but it should have been better. We’ve just played horribly for the majority of the half.

Second half

Well — they’d better step it up and make it close, or they’re going to get blown out of the building.

Hopefully Walz struck fear in them

Not impressed

Neither team in this game is impressing me right now. Louisville looks nothing like the team that beat Maryland, and OU is playing slow now.

The way they’re playing now, Stanford OR UConn would eat their lunch.

by Bruce in Louisville on Apr 5, 2009 8:17 PM EDT reply actions

I think that goes without saying

I do like the current little run. Even if Stanford or UConn would kill UofL it’d still be nice to be in the Championship.

Focus and fouls

We’ve got to stay focused, and we’ve got to STOP FOULING!

Hold the lead ...

… with Byrd on the bench, and we can win this thing.

I hope the refs dont decide this one

the ladies have played PHENOMENAL in the second half

by twistedwedge on Apr 5, 2009 8:54 PM EDT reply actions

There were just 47 fouls on Angel in that play.

Thank God they called one of them

I wouldn’t want to be Cortney Paris, or her dad now. Wow…. lots of money!

I wonder....

….what Courtney Paris is thinking about her “I’ll pay back my scholarship if we don’t win the championship” guarantee?

OK, here's what I want for Tuesday

Let’s see Stanford beat UConn in the semis again, just like last year. Then we can have the Cardinal versus the Cardinals!

It depends

Stanford is my 3rd most hated team and I really couldn’t stand if they won it all.

That was great...

…weird watching a game where winning is GREAT but losing wouldn’t ruin my week or month.

Walz is pretty amazing. You could tell the 2nd half they really focused on shutting down that great shooter for OK. Great defense by Burke.

by CardsFan922 on Apr 5, 2009 9:27 PM EDT reply actions

also thought they did a great job fronting that big OU center

didnt have much for the entire game (other than a buttload of rebounds)

by twistedwedge on Apr 5, 2009 9:35 PM EDT up reply actions

Burke was hot/cold

That over-and-back was ridiculous and she wasted time behind mid-court way too much. I counted out ten seconds twice but the refs didn’t acknowledge it.

Congrats to the Lady Cards!

Looks like another matchup with UConn for the national title, unless Stanford has a 20 point second half come back.

Go Cards

Great game, great team. Way to not give up until the final buzzer sounds Lady Cards.

How can you not love Angel. Every time she’s interviewed it’s all about the team. We would be hard pressed to find a better representative in the black and red.
