Peyton Siva "one to watch" according to SI.com

Anyone who watched the man last night in the McDonald's All-American Game would have to agree.

Come November, tune in to a Louisville game. You won't be disappointed.

Future Cardinals point guard Peyton Siva was by far the most fun player to watch this week. Monday, the 6-footer from Seattle was a dark-horse contender in the slam dunk contest, and he threw down a beauty after catching a ball bounced off the side of the backboard.

Wednesday, Siva dished out nine assists and radiated joy on the court. His signature moment came on a breakaway. Texas-bound guard Avery Bradley Jr. ran stride for stride with Siva, but Siva leaped and whirled 360 degrees before he laid the ball in the basket. Later, Siva would joke that he only went with the layup to spare Bradley's pride. "That's my guy, Avery," Siva said. "I'm not going to dunk on him."

Kid's the real deal.

Real Deal, eh? Time will tell...

but if he is who we think he is, then crown his ass.

I know what people are thinking...

Everybody was saying the same thing last year about Samardo. And while he was solid and had a few games of really good, he wasn’t what everyone was hoping for.

But let me tell you this. I watched Samardo last year in preseason games and training and I’ve watched Peyton this season. The difference is pretty huge in Siva’s favor.

That being said, I know it’s the McDonald’s All-American game, but I was a bit disappointed by Siva’s defense and occasional turnover. His passing was excellent though.

Defense wins playing time

I really like this dude…I hope he has the basketball acumen to realize his D is just as important as his youtube hits while living under RP’s roof.

No one plays defense in all star games

i dont think his defense here should tell anything about what he’ll be like on the court wearing a UL uniform. Pitino (along with Jerry, Preston, Sosa, TJ, Samardo, etc) will force him to understand quickly (if he doenst already) that is what you have to bring every night or you wont see the court much. I havent seen him play at all other than the game last night and some youtube clips, but those wont highlight defense

We haven't had a true point guard with offensive skills in a long time,

though I bow in Andre McGee’s direction because he’s one of my favorite players ever. If Siva can match McGee’s dedication to defense (and hey, I’m hoping Mr. McGee is around to help coach as a graduate assistant next year), and if his offensive skills grow to keep pace with the higher level of competition, we could be in for a real treat. The second coming of Dejuan Wheat, perhaps, with a little more emphasis on passing?
