Amen.
I would also like to point out that I made another wardrobe change right before our 9-0 run. I guess I’m just going to have to keep both of these Louisville shirts around every game and switch between the two whenever it’s necessary.
God Bless Terrence Williams.
From the Minutes of Yesterdays Thread/CardFanTX - Plain Vanilla CC's
I guess I’m boring I’m just wearing what I always do when Louisville’s playing… Nehru jacket, Flavor Flav X-Large clockface medallion, glasses with the googly spring eyes, Argyle socks and Jeff Spiccoli Vans sneakers. I mean, how plain vanilla can I get?

Considering a wardrobe change
I’m thinking about switching to gold-toe gray socks for AZ. I know, what the hell is up with such a radical change??? I’m crazy like that. Don’t turn your back on me. I still have that prison shank. WTF?
Twist/TX Good Ones, Both
I’ll do what I usually do for such staid events as the Regional Finals. I’ll grab a couple of bottles of cooking sherry, read Edith Wharton’s “Ethan Frome,” and get dressed up like Eleanor Roosevelt.
I've got my own good luck charm going...
I have been vigorously spit-shining my boots ever since the BE Tournament and we have not lost yet. It was not until late in the second half last night that I began polishing, and as I did we got back in the game and took it over. I will continue to polish them all the way to Detroit.
And if that doesn't work
Clean your M16 by placing it under a running faucet, announce “no brass, no amo, Drill Sergeant,” as you stand in pre dawn 5:00 AM formation, and slowly s q u e e z e the trigger when he commands, “Platoon, CLEAR YOUR WEAPONS.”
POW!
Game...
….when we got down 4 and had to sit there during that time out….ugh, what an awful feeling.
But then when we got the lead back it was like, oh ya, we’ve played a dozen games like this one this season, and we won all those.
During that stretch in the 2nd half we played about as bad as we could. Also Sienna did not get their first foul called on them in the second half until 7+ minutes left. That sorta limited our advantage down low.
We didn’t really look good in either of our games, so hopefully playing against decent BCS teams will help us snap out of it (see: UConn v. A&M, Nova v. UCLA, Cuse v. ASU)
And hopefully we have a good week in practice.
See everyone in Indy.
during that timeout
I was keeping busy pissing the Siena student section off with my UofL flag. So it was kinda fun
This season HAS shaved ten years off my life.

that was you?
i saw the flag, nice work
btw, siena’s student section seemed like every bitchy mid-major student section i’ve ever witnessed, screaming their heads off when they’re winning and then insulting the other team when they’re losing (not smart enough to realize that they’re actually insulting themselves since they’re, well, losing to the team). as i was walking out the door, someone said, “Hey louisville, you all are pathetic” to which i retorted “have fun next weekend.”
sitting in front of their section...
and I was very calm until they got up and and the guy behind me started chanting “Scoreboard!” to our group . It got ugly after that.
Morehead was not very nice either. They called us the “Tards”, which ya know, is totally politically correct and everything.
if they busted out scoreboard before teh buzzer
that’s wehn you rail every single fan afterwards with a scoreboard right in thier face.
That was you?
Hahaha. I saw that. Excellent work, my friend.

We need to learn how to utilize screens off the ball
Overall, I think we played pretty well yesterday. We shot a good percentage and played fairly solid defense. Give Sienna credit for weathering two of our runs – they are a very good team.
The one thing that has struck me throughout the course of the season is our inability to better utilize screens off the ball, especially in our half-court man offense and out-of-bounds plays. When Sienna switched to man, we struggled. Anytime we tried to inbound the ball, we struggled. Rick needs to draw up some serious out-of-bounds plays this week. Rather than sharply cutting off a screen, it’s like we just try to bullishly get ball by pushing off the opponent. We’ve been terrible at getting the ball in play all year.
Screens...
….if you notice, we don’t actually set screens most of the time, we just go to the spot where we are supposed to screen, stand there for a second and then move to the next spot.
Zona apparently plays a match-up zone that results in wide-open 3 point shots most of the time. They beat Gonzaga because the Zags shot 6-20 from 3. Arizona shot 7-10 from 3 that game. And Zona won by 5.
Should be a great game. Pitino is undefeated in Sweet 16s. Let’s do it.
we could also use...
a new inbounds play
INDY Thread?
I live just north of Indy and might be able to give some tips about parking, etc. However, I’m in the same boat as 20000 other UL fans in wishing I could score some great seats.
Anyway, Mike, I was just wondering if it would be a helpful idea to have an open thread this week specifically for Indy & tickets chatter.
Make a FanPost
I’d be interested in talking about parking, tickets, etc. If Mike chooses, he can move it to the main section.
Anyone worried
we gave Missouri a glimpse of hope? They saw what it takes to rattle us? A weakness to exploit?
Go Cards!
Freudian Slip
Watch out for Missouri, good man. Maybe Corporate Jim will start calling them, “Zori.”
Turnovers
were the problem yesterday, other then that it was not too bad. A win is a win in the NCAA tournament only 4 more games to go.

The thing about the game
It reminded me of two years ago, sitting in RUPP waiting for our game watching all the XAVIER fans go crazy as they nearly beat OSU. Xavier was actually much closer later in the game than SIena was against us. That same year OSU goes to the championship game. In 1980 it takes a last second bucket for UL to get out of the round of 32.
All I’m saying is that just becasue we have a 1 or a 2 seed does not automatically put us straight into the final four. History has proven that every game is going to be a dog fight, regardless of the names on the jerseys and the seeds next to them. I’m proud of our guys. Siena pl;ayed hard, and their PG played extremly well. They had a thin bench, but their MO is running, and in my opinion they were conditioned to survive up and down games like the one UL wants to play. It seemed like a good match up for us on paper but beleive it or not we are best against slow teams, becasue slow teams are trully harrased by our D. Their PG in a lot of ways negated how nasty our D can be. Factor that in with a couple of shots going down I don’t think they’d normally hit, and a few 50/50 balls that bounced right into open Siena players hands, I think we did a great job. We didn’t fold and we had every oppertunity to. A lot of us didn’t get to see it, but T-Will flat out took over when the season was on the line. That’s a really encouraging thing to see at this point in the year.
