1) I will never again rely on CBS to show me a game if it is one I MUST see. The cut away early in the second half basically ruined my weekend. Sports bar from here on out.
2) Since I didn't get to actually watch the game, it's hard to say how we looked. I saw joggy bits and pieces on justin.tv, but even good play looks bad there, so it was hard to tell where we were messing up. Though it looked like we weren't really taking care of the ball. Then when we finally made out comeback even my justin.tv feed had switched over to marquette.
3) So really all I know is that I was crapping my pants for 45 minutes with no real indication of how the game was going. Hopefully a close game like this will be beneficial to us going into the Arizona game. I am starting to wish maybe that St. Mary's had gotten the invite instead of Zona. But whatever, I think we stand a better chance of being ready for Zona than for Siena. Or maybe Siena is just an awesome team, like I said, I have no real way of knowing.
4) I'm just glad we won. God bless the Cards. Deep breath then on to Indy.

That Siena team is a GOOD team
I dont care what anyone says-for them to only turn the ball over 9 times against an excellent defensive squad and only commit 4 fouls in 30+ minutes of play is an indication of a good team. A team chock full of experienced players-Im really glad we made it through this one.
The few things I didnt like: #1-Earl Clark is NO David Padgett. Receiving the pass top of the key is one of his weakest and most turnover prone areas of the court. I love him, but he cannot hang on to the ball to save his life. #2-Free throws! For crying out loud-these boys could have had a +7 point cushion had we not left them on the table…this is the weakest link for the team.
Hopefully the boys regroup and start playing BET type of ball again…these last two games werent too impressive IMO..

It's not that Siena is necessarily a great team, though they are good.
The thing is that they are probably the only team in the country (or at least the only one in the tournament) that plays the exact same kind of basketball as us. They like to get up and down, force tempo, press the ball, and force turnovers. Several of the reads that Mike posted pointed this out, stating that if Siena didn’t win the game, they would keep it close.
I didn’t really believe it until I actually saw it happen. They are the only team I’ve seen all season that not once was really rattled. They turned it over 4 times in the last few minutes when we went on our run, but they still went down the court and got good shots when they didn’t turn it over. I was extremely impressed with how poised and athletic they were. I knew they would matchup well with us, but I thought their lack of depth would hurt them more than it did. Their starters definitely have T-Will type stamina, able to play full out for 35+ minutes.

Real Talk
Our defense didn’t have any aggression to it at all.We where slow beating the offense to their spots, and we played the 2-3 zone lazily.Out of all the Cards Edgar actually played with a 3rd of the motivation we usually play with as far as getting after the ball on defense. When I saw clips of Siena playing in there conference tournament it red flagged me as if I knew we where going to play and have trouble with that team.(If I could only get that vibe on lottery night). So it didn’t surprise me that they played that way. We tend to play down to the competition and yesterday was no different. We started playing stupid and they capitolized off of it. Earl gotta get them hands stronger if he wants clock in the league. They play for paychecks so they gone do whatever by any means to eat! Hopefully that’s as close as we get to a lose (reality check) for the rest of the tournament. But we stil gotta d “one game at a time”.It’s there for the taking. The question is. How bad do we want it?
