Siena reads
I apologize for the extreme lack of coverage heading into this game, but my weekend has been quite loaded and I'm beginning the trek to Dayton at a ridiculous hour.
Still, I'm willing to serve up a breathtaking 65-word preview: Siena will run. Louisville will also run. Ubiles, Hasbrouck and Franklin are all guys who could play anywhere. The Cards will force at least 16 turnovers, scoring points off of those turnovers is the bigger issue. U of L should again have much more bounce in the last five minutes of both halves. This will be an extremely entertaining game for outsiders to take in.
Here are some folks who did just a tad more prep work:
--Fully seasoned, Siena now sets sights on top-seeded Louisville (USA Today)
--Siena gets to experience Louisville's press (Sporting News)
--Historic path opens up for Pitino (Lexington Hearld-Leader)
--Why Siena can beat Louisville (Basketball Prospectus)
--Moore lifts Siena while carrying his own burden (New York Times)
--Louisville's reputation is built on pressure (New York Times)
--Siena's Moore gaines new fans (Dayton Daily News)
--You know, Siena actually could beat Louisville (Albany Times Union)
--Arena red will be muted with other colors (Dayton Daily News)
--Saints, Moore in the spotlight (Albany Times Union)
--Williams makes presence known for Louisville (Chicago Tribune)
--Rick Pitino sings Siena's praises (WGRB, Dayton)

This Could Be The Last Time, This Could Be The Last Time,
It may be the last time, I don’t know.
It’s always such “quick dead” when it’s over. So fast. So effing rude. Nothin’ left but bare trees.
Let’s not let it happen today.
Good Bulletin Board material
I hope that Coach has printed out the Basketball Prospectus and Albany Times Union articles above and pasted them all over the Locker Room.
One thing I thought the Basketball Prospectus article didn't cover...
depth. Siena only plays about 6 players, and the starting 5 getting the bulk of the minutes. Not only should we wear them down that much more easily, but if any one gets into foul trouble, their team is going to be in trouble.
Nobody's mentioned it yet but...
the REFS are going to be super important this game because of the speed of the game..I hope we get fair calls and aren’t punished for NOT being the underdog…sorry but I think that happens sometimes. The best way to overcome that is to stay ahead by so many points, it doesn’t matter. Wouldn’t that be sweet?
