Bracket is shaping up unexpectedly.

So there were plenty of upsets today, especially in our bracket.  Wake Forest, West Virginia, and Ohio State all went down.

Ohio State I expected.  I had Siena victorious in my bracket, and to be honest, I really think this is a great thing for us.  Not having to play Ohio State in Dayton is a plus in my mind, though I am a little worried about Siena's shooting and they don't seem to get worn down by pressure as much as Ohio State.  But at least they won't have home court advantage.

West Virginia was surprising, and I had them in the Sweet Sixteen in my bracket.  To be honest, though, I thought they would either go three rounds or go out the first round.  They were probably the hardest team outside of Providence from the Big East to gauge.  Either way, I think it's a definite plus to not have to face them for the third time this year.  I think they matched up well with us, too.

Wake Forest was the biggest shocker to me.  And to be honest, I don't know what to expect from Cleveland State.  Did anybody watch this game?  Any thoughts on what to expect from them?  I can't say I'm upset about not having to face Wake Forest, as they were one team I was worried about.  But considered the ass-beating Cleveland State gave them, I don't know which of the two would have been better.  I hope we're not going up against a Cinderella in the third round.  Of course, we took care of the Syracuse cinderella, so I still have faith in this team.

On paper, this is shaping up to be an easy road for us.  The highest seed we'll see before the fourth round will be a 9 seed, and that's next.  We'll be facing either a 12 or 13 in the Sweet Sixteen, where Pitino is undefeated.  On the other hand, you have to be worried about an underrated cinderella.  This is shaping up to be an exciting tournament run.  What do you guys think?

I would also like to point out that Arizona is a tough nut to crack.

Here I didn’t even think they belonged in the tournament, and they’re moving on to the second round and will be facing a 13 seed. They could easily be in the Sweet Sixteen against us, and underdog confidence is hard to beat. Ask Louisville’s roster.

Wake

I was never worried about them. They took 15 fewer shots than Cleveland St. That’s why they lost. Hell, Wake shot an impressive 52% and still lost big. We would have DESTROYED them. They turned it over 18 times (if the stats I’m reading are up-to-date). Imagine how many we’d have forced with our pressure. I’m actually more concerned about facing Cleveland State. They’re very athletic, love to run, and don’t look like they tire easily. Gotta get by Siena first.

That's what I was thinking.

I watched the final overtime, and they didn’t even look tired. That’s not a good sign for this team.

Like you said, we’ve got to get by Siena first, and they’ve got to get by Arizona as well.

So ur saying????

Im not tryna chew yawll out, believe me I was worried about this game against MSU because no matter the rank, any game could be our last,, this is where all teams have to be on the same mindset,,, so still no matter who we play ima get nervous but Ur saying that CSU is faster and maore athletic than us… why yawll sayin thats a bad sign… Running is 75% of Louisville’s practice we have coach freaking PITINO who is one of the best coaches living right now and we have one of the best Strength and Conditioning coach in the nation and your saying that they are scary,, hey even if we do get a lil tired we have a monsterous 6th man,,, we are so deep man i think its impossible for us to get tired… but anything is possible, but they played Wake who is absolutley terrible if they commit more than 3 turnovers a game, and Sienna, they played OHIO STATE who couldent even win the Big Ten, for god sake we won the BIG EAST reg season and tourne,, we have the DEFENSE to slow this team down.. .once we put that D on they dont know where to throw and just wear them down… take when we played PITT for the longest time they couldn’t pass the ball inbounds cuz we were pressuring them so hard… BUT LIKE I SAID ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE U NEVA KNOW ..but we have Rick Pitino he wont allow poor play he makes 2nc half adjustments like no other coach…

Actually, when I made that comment, I was thinking of Siena, not Cleveland State.

I didn’t watch Cleveland State play. Siena looked very athletic and didn’t get worn down much in the two overtimes.

ALSO

It might happen but think,,, dont be afraid of thier shooting,, u think them 6’1 bastards are gonna get a good shot over T-Will or Earl Clark… plus its OHIO STATE we have 1 of the best Defense if not the best in the nation,,, and u think they will get by Knowles Smith or Mcgee, and even if they do they gonna meet Samuels and clark in the middle and if they dare dish it back out, T-Wills right there to take it to a fast break…

Don't get too cocky.

That’s how you get beat. You’ve got to recognize that we’re not going to dominate every team we play, especially not now in the tournament.

Siena is a great team...a middle class version of Lousiville

…but I think most of our strengths match up well with their big weaknesses. Our bigs should destroy them in the 2nd half.

I kind of like "Lousiville"-That reverse respect kind of thing

And as CARD G6 intimates, it is not a bad thing to be scared at this point. Huge win for the Albany Capital District with Siena going up…maybe all those losses, though competitive, against “name” schools was not for nothing. They seem frenetic…quick…herky-jerky…untidy…fast…and unafraid.
I didn’t look at the thread of last night’s game, but was Pitino trying to teach E5 some kind of lesson? Again? I like Swop and, as Frankpos has stated, he will get better and better, but I always see Bambi in the headlights when he’s out there, and this is no time to be sacheting across I71 at four in the morning wearing dark colors.

Clark had 2 fouls early in the first half, so he sat for the rest of it.

I don’t think Pitino was trying to teach him anything, but as long as we had the lead, he couldn’t risk Earl picking up a third.

I know we wont dominate

But like I was saying, we have a monster Defense and have probably the best inside game in the tourne,,, screw Blair and Hansbrough,,, if u get any of thos men fouled out thier team is DONE… U cant foul us out,,, u foul Samuels out, theres Jennings who gets like 2 block a game, u get Jerry Smith out, we got PK who is a D Bulldog, U get Mcgee out we got Sosa who is impressivly improving… idt we should be afraid… we won won the BIG EAST we played way better men than whoever the fuck Siena or Arizona have… we could get beat but I really don’t see it happening this early in the tournament… our guys are the most conditioned I dont think any team can run like us we dont get tired… Fatigue aint a factor… also a key to win here or at least keep us out of a scare…. DONT EVER EVER PUT SWOP IN FOR CLARK … i can c for like 2 minutes so E5 can get sum rest but Clark was replaced with 9 minutes left in da 1st… Swop was gwttin bullied in the post… ccouldent even hit the air when he shot
