It is amazing...

to see a team/personnel group that Coack Pitino finally has that can play exactly the way he wants to play: pressure, inside-out play, perimeter ball pressure on defense, etc.

This is too much fun.

I'm predicting that the Orange

Come out all fired up in the first half. Run their asses off to prove they aren’t worn the F out.
Which will wear them out even more. If we can stay within 10 at the half and we continue to press the hell out of them, in the second half they’ll have no legs. They only play 7 guys after all.

Falling into place...

…it is amazing how the pieces have just fallen into place for this run. Pitt beating UConn twice, but losing to Provo…..us winning @WVU on senior night / gameday game (I gave us a 5% chance to win that game), which gave us the 1 seed and the (deserved) easier route to the championship.

Then Pitt and UConn both losing in the quarter finals – I’d love to play them again, but you can’t tell me those would be easier games to win than a Syracuse team playing their 6th game in 3 days.

And winning tonight I think gives us the 1 seed in Indy (30% chance in Memphis) both of which are drives from Louisville. And if we get Memphis/OK/Duke as our 2…..

It just seems like the path is unfolding before us…

My biggest fear is that

ESPN and others will make the excuse for Cuse if/when they lose that they were tired and therefore it was an illegitimate title run for UofL (because they didn’t play Pitt or Uconn)

guaranteed

no doubt about it.
lead pipe lock.
absolute certainty.
Foregone conclusion.
There seems to be nothing that UofL can do to entice ESPN to hop on board. They are begging for reasons that anoint anyone but UofL. It’s almost gone too far. Even this morning hubert and bilas were trying to swap MSU or Memphis into our spot. Unheard of.
Fortunately we are undeniably good and this just puts more fire in the tank. It’s almost like they are making an effort to turn us into underdogs no matter what the situation is. Fine. We play better with that extra motivation. I wonder if Pitino maybe sent a memo to the talking heads threatening their families if anyone gave the Cards even the slightest of nods. It’s the only explanation I can come up with.

ESPN and losing favor

They loved us with RP and BP but now that SK is here there is no love. That jerk has even impacted the basketball program. Ok the part about the negative impact was a joke but the part about being a jerk isn’t.

Imbalanced was the Big East word of the week...

& you know they’ll label this an “Imbalanced BET title run” if UL wins…

well fuck you very much, experts…we don’t care where we play.

Doesn't matter

what ESPN talking heads or anyone else says. Win tonight in any fashion (good, bad, ugly) and we get a #1 seed. Even if we lose and it’s a great game, I think we might get a 1. But hey, both NC’s came with us as a #2, so it’s all good.

Louisville is already a No.1 seed

I mean isn’t Louisville already a number one seed? I mean if it comes down to UConn/Louisville, Louisville should get the No.1 because they are the hotter team. It does not matter what happened six weeks ago or whatever.

I think Louisville should win tonight and it maybe by double-digits. I previewed the game on my website.

FYI TWill has not been 100% .....

for the first games. because he has a cold. He is an AWESOME BB player and worthy of any award – we’ll see for sure tonight, won’t we???? Go CARDS – go TWILL !!!

I am just saying maybe he was not worthy of being named one of the six best. I mean if Jonny Flynn played like that during Syracuse past three games, they would not be in this title game.

Big East First Team: Luke Harangody, Sam Young, DeJuan Blair, Jerel McNeal, Hasheem Thabeet, Jonny Flynn (instead of Williams). Tough argument, it should have been a tie like the Player of the Year voting.

Trust me I have seen a lot of Big East basketball. Enough to say that Rick Pitino is the best coach in the Big East and that Louisville is the hottest team in the BIg East right now. Also enough to say that Louisville deserves a No.1 seed regardless of the outcome of tonight’s game.

Terrence Williams is a great all-around player but Jonny Flynn is much more important to his team.

Who is this dude?
Terrence Williams is a great all-around player but Jonny Flynn is much more important to his team.

you sir, are incorrect. Williams is the nucleus of this team, without him we would have lost several more games this year.

by twistedwedge on Mar 14, 2009 7:24 PM EDT up reply actions

and since when does just shooting the ball well

constitute “top players of the Big East?” Does Johnny Flynn average the all around numbers Williams does? Didnt think so-matter of fact Williams is the ONLY player in the nation to do so.

you sound just like all the rest of these “sports experts” “POY” because he averages 26ppg…blah blah

by twistedwedge on Mar 14, 2009 7:27 PM EDT up reply actions

you obviously know nothing about...

U of L basketball and I question whether you know anything about BB period – TWill is an awesome BB player and Rick Pitino (ever hear of him?) says TWill will play 15 years in the NBA….we’ll settle this debate on the court tonight. TWill could not be more important to his team (and it IS his team) or to the fan base. Go CARDS!

by Linda on Mar 14, 2009 8:37 PM EDT up reply actions

TWill compared to Flynn tonight

case and point. Almost enough stats for a quadruple double.

To his credit though…all “hoopswriters” aside…Flynn deserved tourney MVP. Just dont front on the season honors..
