Name that player.......

what was the big guy's name who played center for Memphis back in the day when Dana Kirk was coach? I can not think of that players name and it's driving me bonkers....big scary looking kid who was oh so nasty.

Hey Jerb

I immediately thought of Keith Lee…that’s when they were Memphis State, right?

More importantly, you mentioned one of the all time “names” in college basketball history. As one of the lesser known characters featured in some of Arthur Conan Doyle’s lesser known works, Holmes was my Holmes-boy before there was such a thing.
I pinched a piece from a site called the Memphis Sky. Didn’t know he was no longer with us.

SMALL FORWARD: Billy Buford (1973), Baskerville Holmes (1985), Chris Douglas-Roberts (2008) Buford was a popular teammate on Gene Bartow’s squad, but not a difference-maker. Like Laurie, he deferred to the Finch/Robinson/Kenon trio that made headlines, game in and game out. The late Holmes — he died by his own hand in 1997 after killing his girlfriend — delivered more than the greatest name in Tiger history. He averaged 9.6 points per game in 1984-85 and played in 12 NCAA tournament games.

I thought the stealth rebound by The Suit after the second consecutive missed free throw by Samuels was the sealer today.
Have a good one, man.

Thanks everybody....

he was a bad man and I didn’t think he would ever graduate….did he ever, really? I’ll google him and see if anything comes up. I don’t remember if he went to the NBA; maybe he played overseas. He was a real thug. I did look online to see if Dana Kirk is still cookin’ and he is……I got to thinking about real rivalries the other night and Memphis came to mind….yep, the old Memphis State……..some great memories of going to those games both home and away. It was a great rivalry.

Yeah, and we can scoff and strut around people like Keith Lee cause we had a 3.89 GPA

of course, Frank, in my case this is the TOTAL GPA of my checkered career. Lets see, 1.63 at Ulster County Community College….2.10 at Ohio State….than there’s the State University of New York at Geneseo…just add them up, and you’ll get me there.

So when people ask me where I went to college, I just say, “All of ’em.”

And, for Paul Harvey…

Good Day.
