What to watch: 2/9/09
West Virginia at Pittsburgh (7 p.m./ESPN)
Let's hope it rivals this.
Florida A&M at Norfolk State (7 p.m./ESPNU)
The Kentucky football team would have needed all of January to prepare for this game.
Albany at Binghamton (7 p.m./MSG/ESPN FullCourt)
Did you know that Albany, and not New York city, is actually the capital of New York? Because not a lot of people do.
Loyola (MD) at Siena (7 p.m./MASN)
I know I've said it before, but I f---ing love the MAAC, and I cannot wait for all-day coverage of MAAC Madness on MASN.The Saints roll.
Iona at Manhattan (8 p.m./MSG/FCS Atlantic)
I know I've said it before, but I f---ing love the MAAC, and I cannot wait for all-day coverage of MAAC Madness on MASN. The Kevin Willards pull the minor upset.
Kansas at Missouri (9 p.m./ESPN)
This is a situation where I'm fully aware that both teams are good, rivals and that the game will be entertaining, but I still have absolutely no desire to watch.
Mississippi Valley State at Alabama State (9 p.m./ESPNU)
Chances of Jerry Rice being mentioned at some point during the broadcast: 100%. Chances of me hearing Jerry Rice being mentioned at some point during the broadcast: 0%.

The Local School
around here is in America East, who’s claim to fame so far has been when Vermont and their cutey pie point guard, Sorentine, hit that Soza like shot against Syracuse to KO them from NCAA’s a few years ago. Yeah, that MAAC is an interesting league, and Siena plays a World Class schedule, losing in competitive games to Kansas, Tennessee, Pitt, and Oklahoma State. My brother who lives in the capital district, thinks they’ll get an “at large” even if they get beat in their tournament. I think Paul Hewitt of Georgia Tech coached up there.
One more plus for team nicknames: League member, Marist….“The Red Foxes”…Loved it when the girls basketball team won of couple in NCAA’s two years ago.
For some reason....
….I like this WVU team. They play tough, Ebanks is fun and should have come here. Butler is just an awesome basketball player.
But who am I for tonight? I mean, I think it helps the Big East to have Pitt/UConn/UL all in the top 10, but we need to be in the top 4 in the league and it would help if Pitt had 1 more loss to get the 2 seed.
I guess RPI would be helped by 2 wins over WVU – on the flip side, how confident are we in winning there on a Saturday Gameday 9 PM game (I think its their senior night too?)
Whatever, screw it, I’m for WVU.
