The Pod factor....
Ok, I heard on the radio today that if U of L gets a 1, 2 or 3 seed, we'd probably play in Dayton and Indy due to the Pod System. While I doubt we'll get a one, we should get a 3 anyway. That would be cool if the Cards could play in Dayton, Indy before moving on to the Final Four. On WKRD, the callers in the first hour (obviously yUK fans by their comments...) didn't pick U of L to make it. In the second hour, EVERY caller picked U of L to make the Final Four. A lot of them picked Pitt (not ONE picked UConn which I found strange), all picked NC (of course) and a few of them picked Memphis for their 4th team. One guy picked Michigan State to make it ONLY BECAUSE of their coach. I like Oklahoma for my fourth team although the concensus seems to be that they don't play anybody. I've watched them this year (love those brothers....) and really love the way they play. I can't wait until the brackets come out in what, 2-3 weeks?
Go CARDS!!

2 seed
I’m with Lunardi, we’ll probably end up a 2. Of course I’m not entirely giving up the dream of a 1 seed. All it takes at this point is wins over a handful of tournament-ready teams, some of whom will desperately need the style points that come with beating a top 10 team, many of which will be road games. And once we do that all we have to do is advance farther than UConn in the BET. We might even need to beat Pitt in order to pull it off. Pitt in MSG no less. But even if we fall short of that goal we could very easily be the no.1 two seed, which likely would land us playing in the Oklahoma bracket. Can we handle OK two years in a row?

Hey e,
As I said before, in my opinion, bracketology is a process without a product.
Lunardi, and many others like him, have made a living from this intellectual slight of hand and I am charry to even look at anything approaching this phony art. It is close-up magic for the near sighted. Are his brackets fixed, or are they fluid? Does his crisp, on the money thought of last week (i.e., giving an “at large” bid to say, *San Luis Obisbo) get tossed out THIS week when the dark horse gets beat. I’m afraid so. Then, there will be a new darling next week.
Which supports the adage: “If you are to predict, predict often.”
Then, if you happen to be right, you are a genius.
And get this, the man makes a living at it. I’m already cringing about Clark Kellog talking about it in the coming weeks.
*the reference to this northern California college is because I have a friend who wanted to go there for the best of reasons……He liked the way it sounds. Me? I’m a “University of the Pacific,” or a “Pan American” kind of guy.

right on the money
Lunardi doesn’t project the NCAA tournament field; he just states who is in the tournament at the moment. That’s really not all that difficult.
When it comes down to Selection Sunday, there are about 8-10 teams fighting for the last for the last 4-6 spots. He misses two or three and thinks he’s a genius.

Its An Old Tyme Medicine Show, Centrecard
a three card monte, side show exhibit, by guys like Lunardi, who have pounced upon “the moment” in the latter part of the twentieth century and established a niche for a service that is not needed. Yeah, it’s mildly interesting at first, but it has become a cottage industry that has nothing to sell, save its own self grandizing, and it’s medicine show elixir, that is vapid, without taste, and has the after effect of a bombshell laxative whose attack on the olfactory senses could clear out a small auditorium.
And yet, some of us hang on its everyword.
Have a good one.

oh no.....
I hope you are wrong about our being in Oklahoma’s bracket because Blake Griffin scares me to death – we’d have to play our best game to beat them…..can you imagine TWill/SamSam vs Blake Griffin??? I don’t know if SS is ready but I know TWill would take him on inside or outside….I get nervous just thinking about playing Oklahoma.

Don't Worry About A Thing, Linda
We are going to have to play our “A” game no matter who we play. We’re just not good enough to get very far with anything less. And when we are rolling, when we are oiled and smooth, we can play with ANYBODY.
Trouble is, that “other” team might show up. The one with E5’s constant traveling. the out of rhythm outside shots from EVERYBODY, and the general disarray.
It’s kind of like “Bracketology.” All that huffing and puffing. “Oh, I hope we play them”…or “Gosh, I’m afraid of playing them,” cause in the end, all the hand wringing is just a bag of shells.
Don’t be defensive or afraid to play Griffin or anybody else. Cliche #1043, “The best way around something is to go through it.”
And if we fail, we’ll just come back and give it a shot next year.
My best to your wild haired husband. Hope Tom fires up “Smokin’ Fastball” soon.
