You can't judge a book by its cover
I know the cliche is probably true, but I still can't help thinking that the portrait of the U of L head coach that graced the CJ sports page today is revealing. In its vapidity, that is. In it's blank stare; in it's clueless expression. In it's "maybe if I bite my lip I'll look thoughtful" countenance.
Sorry, but on occasion you might get a glimpse of what's inside the book by looking closely at its cover. In this instance, the cover suggests that the book is mostly blank pages. And there is two years worth of evidence to prove that statement is true.
U of L football. Doomed as doomed can be.

ugh....
second that. I’ve done pretty well forgetting we even have a football team until b-ball season is over…I had also blocked myself from remember our latest class coming in…JuCo’s and frosh that “we’re gonna have to depend on”, few to none of which are even a four-star or better…. *shakes head in dismay

the largest JUCO class out of all the “big” DI schools?

You know, it's not fun to feel this cynical
I hate feeling this negative and sour about the football program, but we all know that CSK is a dead man walking. He looks like shit – undoubtedly from all the stress he’s under. I feel sorry for him and his family.
Nevertheless, I hope TJ beats the Christmas rush and by Halloween we’re actively looking for a new coach. I suppose we can at least look forward to that since it is unlikely we will be looking forward to going to a bowl game. BTW, Halloween is only 8 months and 18 days away.

You're right, Lisa
Feeling so cynical for so long isn’t fun, and yet any sympathy I might consider feeling for Krag is tempered by this simple fact: These are problems, this is stress and tension he brought on himself. I don’t blame him for taking a job offered by a friend; don’t blame him for wanting to make a step up. But at some point he had to realize he was in over his head; at some point he should have known he needed help.
Or maybe not. Maybe I don’t have the slightest idea of what I’m talking about. But I do know this — the football program has fallen from contender to laughing stock under this guy’s tutelage in just two seasons. And I strongly suspect we will never recover as long as he’s at the helm. I know people at UK said the same thing about Coach Brooks, and he’s done a credible job for them in turning the program around. While both Brooks and Krag share a dull-as-toast blandness, Brooks is at least a likable, avuncular figure. And Brooks has a modicum of intelligence, something I feel greatly lacking in the current U of L head coach.
