Caracter to make UTEP debut vs. New Mexico St

He's baa-aack. I don't know who to root for in this matchup, but I do know that either team would probably beat our squad right now and Samardo would get out-rebounded even by DC. "Derrick Caracter will make his return to college basketball Sunday against New Mexico State. UTEP coach Tony Barbee told FOXSports.com the once-heralded high school star has been cleared academically to play for the Miners for the rest of the season. The 6-foot-8 1/2, 270-pound Caracter is a New Jersey native was at one time the No. 1 high school player in the nation. Caracter spent two up-and-down seasons at Louisville — much of it in Rick Pitino's doghouse. Caracter averaged 8.1 points and 3.9 rebounds in 18 games as a freshman and 8.3 points and 4.5 boards per game as a sophomore. Caracter was basically forced to leave Louisville as his grades plummeted and his weight ballooned. He was set to turn pro, but declined an invitation to the Orlando pre-draft camp and wound up transferring to UTEP — where he has set out the past year."
