Let's Just Hope This Is Normal

I know every team is different, just like every snow flake, but I went ahead and compared this teams' victory ratios to the past few years.  Here's an overlook at the rest of the December Games and how they compare to the previous years in Wins.  If you should gain anything from all of this, it's that basketball rarely makes sense.  Don't freak out or give up on our team just yet.  Give them a chance to go to Pitino Camp over the holiday break, where he can work them for more than 20 hours per week.  I'm sure he can teach Sosa how to not throw the ball out-of-court and Samuels how to rebound.

Take these numbers for what you will, if anything I just hope our early season losses are normal.  Our best Nov + Dec record turned out to be our worst  team in recent years.  Our worst Nov + Dec record made it to the second round.   Correlation =  0% +-100.

12/16 Oral Roberts-- 6-4

12/19 Western Kentucky -- 5-3

12/23 Louisiana-Lafayette-- 3-4

12/27 Radford-- 4-3

12/30 South Florida 8-1

2009-- This Year's Team-- Nov + Dec Record= 5-3, with 5 to go.

2008-- Elite 8 Team-- Nov + Dec Record= 11-3, First 8 games Record:  7-1

2007-- Elite 8 Team-- Nov + Dec Record= 9-3, First 8 games Record:  5-3

2006-- 2nd Round Team-- Nov + Dec Record= 10-4, First 8 games Record:  5-3

2005-- NIT Team-- Nov + Dec Record= 10-1, First 8 games Record:  7-1

2004-- Final 4 Team-- Nov + Dec Record= 10-2, First 8 games Record:  6-2

2003-- 1st Round Team-- Nov + Dec Record = 8-1, First 8 games Record:  7-1

2002-- 2nd Round Team-- Nov + Dec Record = 7-1, First 8 games Record:  7-1

2001-- 2nd Round Team-- Nov + Dec Record = 9-2, First 8 games Record:  7-1

Nov/Dec doesn't matter

But the team looks worse right now than most of Pitino’s past teams. The talent is there when you look at recruiting ratings…but they’ve underperformed on the court. I wasn’t surprised at the loss today but Louisville hasn’t come close to playing their best this season. Let’s hope they can figure it by 30 Dec when South Florida comes to Freedom Hall.

My Bad

I didn’t realize that. Goes to show, even more so, that a good start doesn’t really mean anything.

With a passion:

I hate your alias. “realisticcardsfan” as if to go ahead and demean your fanhood in saying that you don’t succumb to the heightened expectations of Cardinal teams and the oft ill-fated high-hopes of diehardcards abroad. You, sir, are a mockery of the game.
