Goode possibly done for the year

I love George Goode. A lot.

I think he plays tremendously hard and cares about the team winning as much as anyone who's worn a Cardinal uniform in recent memory. I feel awful that injuries have forced him to miss so much action thus far in his U of L career and hope like hell that he gets the opportunity to perform at 100% for the next two years.

All that said, this is one of the greatest quotes in Louisville basketball history.

"Unfortunately George fell down yesterday," Pitino said of the sophomore forward, "He didn’t bang anything. He just fell down."

Goode, who is notoriously clumsy, has already suffered two concussions this season and now might be out for the rest of the year with a meniscus tear suffered at practice Thursday. Here's hoping the injury isn't as severe as it appears or that if it is, his recovery is swift.

The good news is that Preston (Preston!) Knowles and Peyton Siva have both been ruled good to go for Saturday's all-of-the-sudden very important game with Western Carolina. Jerry Smith, who just returned to practice, will not play.

What are the chances

that Preston becomes our go-to/team leader guy this year? I could see that happening. Best sixth man, ha! How about star of the Louisville Cardinals.

If we are to be successful this year the chances are huge. He’s the only guy besides Sosa that has even hinted at that ability.

One baseball game, he came to the plate and heard a woman in the crowd shout to the pitcher, "I'll make you a chocolate cake if you strike out that 'so-and-so'!" Says Strong: "I hit that ball out of the park. Then I looked at her like, 'Do I get a cake now?' "

At least there is some Goode to this post...

yeah, these puns have gotta stop. Goode being gone is a big bummer, but having PK and PS back will be HUGE for Saturday. Good luck to Jerry and George as the heal up.

And the hits just keep coming

Definitely becoming a dark time for the b-ball Cards. Coming into a year where we lose two 1st round picks, Con-Man Calipari takes over uk and brings the top recruiting class, Pitino’s scandal is all over the place, Junior leaves and Cards’ recruiting dies, blown out by freakin’ Charlotte and ousted from the top 25 (continuing to be a top 10 program, Rick!?), and now the injury curse returns.

Funny how a lot of fans gave up on football and turned to hoops for some excitement, and just like that the pendulum has swung right back the other way. When the balance of power shifts, it leaves no room for doubt!

I'm sorry for Goode

but Pitino saying “He fell down. He just fell down” is unbelievably funny. Goode was just starting to get minutes. It’s a bummer

Jerry Smith

Jerry Smith’s twitter says something about “live action tomorrow.” Take that for what you will…

It's not as bad as they thought.

He’s not done for the year. He may only miss just the one game.

That's a relief

Because now I don’t feel like as big an asshole for thinking “He just fell down” was the best Rick Pitino quote ever.

As I read it...

Pitino was saying the meniscus tear was not caused by any impact. Im thinking maybe he twisted his knee and tore the meniscus, and the meniscus tear was what caused him to “just [fall].” In which case the fall is not very funny. Just sayin’.

but....

it’s not torn. It’s just a bruise, and he will be back this year, as soon as next week.
