Strong's struggle for respect ends
This is pretty fantastic.
"Me and my wife [Vicki] looked at each other, and it was so emotional," Strong said when asked how it felt to finally have his first head-coaching job after 26 years in the college football business.
That's when his voice caught. His head bowed. The new coach of the Louisville Cardinals snapped his fingers and then tapped them on the podium, trying to find the composure he didn't feel.
Finally, he went on.
"Because you just never thought it was going to happen," he said, biting his lip as tears filled his eyes.
...
"That," said the man who hired him, Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich, "was a top-five moment in my career."

loyalty
I wonder if Strong would be more loyal to UofL (assuming he has great success like we all hope for) given we are the ones who gave him that chance he had been longing for for so long. I sure hope he is wildly successful and never wants to leave.

I'm sure Tiger Woods would agree...
but some people have integrity to be faithful to a place they love. It remains to be seen whether CS will be successful and if so, whether he’ll bounce out on us or not.
I personally believe that CS is ours for the next 5, for better or worse.

I think it’s not too absurd to think that, he definitely seemed really appreciative of the opportunity he has earned, but you never know if he has success here it would be tough for me to expect him to bypass another job if it was offered, especially an SEC job.
One baseball game, he came to the plate and heard a woman in the crowd shout to the pitcher, "I'll make you a chocolate cake if you strike out that 'so-and-so'!" Says Strong: "I hit that ball out of the park. Then I looked at her like, 'Do I get a cake now?' "
I will continue to say this until someone acknowledges the truth of my statement
There is absolutely no way that Charlie Strong is older than Lebron James or Greg Oden
LeBron does not look THAT old
Oden on the other hand looks like Father Time.
